Issue144. "It is the artist, not the critic,* who gives society something of lasting value."

的确，有价值的作品都是出于艺术家之手
但是，艺术家的作品并不一定是都是有持久价值的，什么样的作品都是有持久意义的呢？
然而，艺术作品并不是那么好理解的
评论家有助于人们对艺术作品的理解
但是评论家的因素也有不好的
很多时候，艺术家创造了作品，评论家发掘了作品

               There is no doubt that the artist created the valuable works. Can the works last for long? Frankly speaking, I don’t think so. Because art is not so easy to comprehend. Then comes the stage of critics. Yet, critics are just like a two-side sword. Taking the positive effects from critics into consideration, a piece of works leaves unforgettable impression actually owing to both the artists and the critics. My justifications are amplified as follows.
               To start with, artist is irreplaceable creator. Although the definition of artist is vague, those who produce pieces of art works, irrespective of how long the work would last for, are named of artist. On this point, it is truly the artist who gives birth to precious works. There exist a myriad of artists in the long river of history. Beethoven, Van Gogh and suchlike artist are the most acclaimed. Artist is to art woks what mother is to baby.
               Further more, art works are not always valuable. Maybe, one out of hundreds or more pieces deserve to be preserved. So what kind of works could on earth last forever. As far as I am concerned, the promising works have a lot in common. I emphasize two of the similarities. Firstly, the very kind of art should be accepted at least by a class of people. That is not to say the works must win approval once it is composed. In practice, the odds are often that the works acquire popularity after the art pass away. If no one values the work, how could it survive ?Secondly and importantly, the works should mirror something meaningful, anyway.The reason that simple tune is to be melody are that the composer entrusts the song a lot of emotions.
            Believe it or not, but the fact is that indigestible works can not be understood easily by an ordinary individual. Art itself is a thing that is mysterious. In particular, excellent works full of profound sense make it more difficult to follow the authorship. Taking Van Gogh’s paintings for example, originally his painting did not blend in well with the main feature. Only after he committed suicide, his works started to occur into people’s sight. Generally speaking, wonderful work will be bound to be accepted.
            Then, critics emerge at the right time . Critics’ words often motivate us to think about the art. Sometimes, critics throw immediate light upon the origin intention of the artist. What kind of person critics are? Ordinarily, critics are trained or born with an eye of identification. What is more, they are to acquire some professional knowledge. It is a typical of critics to find something different from the common sight. Jury in a singing competition is convincing example of critics. Their jobs are mostly professors or composers. They have an acute sense of voice. Besides, they help the singers to take advantage of themselves.
            On the other hand, not all words from critics are accurate. Definitely, the accesses from critics are subjective. They behave and speak according to their mind. Here goes the old saying: “Gold can’t be pure and man can’t be perfect”. The famous Chinese musician Bing is spoken ill of .Critics looks down upon his works, several of them even declared that Bing can’t look up to the standard of musician. However, after Bing’s death, his melody is popular all around China. Personally, critics’ comments are just for reference, it can’t completely represent the true significance of art.
            In summary, a valuable work is fraught of the origin author’s feelings and the critics’ words. The author’s feelings are the soul of a work while the critics’ words are usually compared to catalyst of a work on its way to last for long. (620)

论证的几个部分结构还是很清晰的，但是开头说的意思不是很明晰。文章中比较具体的例子不是太多，好像有点泛！还有就是你的观点和我之前看到的差不多，缺乏自己的创新。如有不妥，请指正

TOPIC: ISSUE48 - "The study of history places too much emphasis on individuals. The most significant events and trends in history were made possible not by the famous few, but by groups of people whose identities have long been forgotten."

The history is like a boat in the long river of time, and the famous one is just like the captain while the most people are the sailors. If we talk about the trip, the captain has been put great emphasis on, when the sailor puts the most of their strength. So I agree with the idea that the individuals are the deserved ones to have the fame, but they shouldn't forget the strength of the sailor.

The groups of people have their own power to enforce the trend of history. Just uses the example of the war, the general may gives his order but without the soldiers, he couldn't win the war. In not a dissimilar way, the captain may control the rudder, but without the power of the sailors, the ship may sink in the storm and be out of control. So the few famous people must have used the power of the groups of people in a appropriate way, Therefore, even the study out few emphasis on the groups of people, the leader should know the significance of them, and learn to let the the groups of people play their own function to the maximum.

The famous few are the promoters of the history. Just look over the history, we can find so many results of the events are decided by them. The groups of people are just uses their strength which likes the engine of the boat, but the famous few are the rudder which decided the direction of the history. The things may happen to another direction which may delay the speed of our development. Without Doctor King, the abolishment of race discrimination may be longer to become true or even it exists today. Without Roosevelt and his New Deal, the USA may step into a country of aggression to get away from the economic crisis. So the few famous should be emphasized for their much larger contribution than the groups on average.

They can be the examples of history for the later generation. They deserve more emphasis. The features of the common people are also represented by the few people. So study them may tell us more and it is a effect way to learn history from the famous few. And most events just need few leaders and the leaders are much more possible to learn from the famous few of the history. The common people may just follow the leader's way, and they needn't to think too much.

In the science and art fields, the roles of the famous few are the most significant ones. They may come up with a great inspiration and then make the great contribution to the human. Some people may ask that the groups of people may contribute to their basic study. What I have to say is that the most people couldn't work it out, but him. Then can't give some awards to him? Admittedly the problem is so complex, but we can analysis the problem with the most important factor. And the famous few are just it. That the history studies on them with much more emphasis is just reasonable.

In sum, the issue doesn't get the point. Anyway I admit the function of the common people who stand in the back of the famous few. However, the famous few are of great study value undoubtedly. We may learn about him for his experience to make the decision and the ability to call for help from the groups of people.
