1.第一题你打错了很多单词。
首先从第二空入手，her resolve but increasing out of step and ultimately ，那么第二空直接填入out of step 变体词，alienated from 符合。
第一空的话，首先was an apostle of noble but already ，前后存在转折，但是注意，修饰同一人物不能用直接反义词，只能用广义的转折词，例如，A很白但不胖，不能说A很白但不黑。根据后面她离经叛道的行为，直接填入out of step的广义同义词，anachronistic，年代错误的，正好符合。

第二题原意复述。
through finesse and understatement ,he manages to seem at once intensely present and curiously detached.
那么就是通过 finesse and understatement ，显得 intensely present and curiously detached.
第一空直接填入intensely present and curiously detached的变题词，既要体现detached的感觉，又要intensely，A最符合。这是词汇问题。
第二空填入finesse and understatement 的变体词，同时在as if前事draw one‘s attention，那么之后就是非draw one‘s attention，deflect最佳。

第三题，最后一句differing only in superficial details.，中间的only有很大的启示，那么前面的情况就应该不是differing的。human societies the world over have confronted the same existential problems 。这一句也表明了第二空。
第二空中，不能填identical，因为已经存在differing only in superficial details，solution已经是不同的，但是要求前后转折，这里similar最佳。
发现句首的despite，那么前句就应该表达的是和solution is similar相反的意思。其中human societies the world over have confronted the same existential problems ，这里正好揭示了despite后一定是某种反面事实的解释。
contingencies最佳。

n.意外事件，可能性

除去时间，空间，历史的各种可能性，世界上的人类社会最终都会遇到相同的问题，选择相似的解决方式，这些这在细节上有所不同。

关于第一题，exotic在AHD里的解释也有古怪、荒诞、与众不同的意思啊：
Intriguingly unusual or different; excitingly strange：exotic costumes from the Far East.See Synonyms at fantastic
原句意思也可以解释为：在晚年，她成为了一个高尚但却与古怪荒诞、与众不同的基督教信徒，因为她的真诚、活力与决心而被大家尊敬，但却因步调与大家不统一，格格不入，而最终被疏远。
如何解释？

一上来自柯林斯词典~个人觉exotic和前面的an apostle of noble 是相反的。而且从最后一句也发现其与其organization的不同。

我今天在绿皮书上找到了第二题：
Belanger dances with an ____ that draws ones attention as if by seeking to ____ it; through finesse and understatement, he manages to seem at once intensely present and curiously detached.
书后提供的答案是AF，也就是undemonstrative panache 和 deflect
我感觉也第二个空也应该选deflect。
肯能是楼主的题目typo, 第二个空填的动词对应的对象it应该就是前面所说的"one's attention"，看面的indication：
1）finesse 与 understatement，“华丽的技巧”与“轻描淡写”形成一种矛盾与冲突的对比；
2）intensely present 与 curiously detached，“强烈的表现力”与“神奇的出离感”再次形成矛盾与对比；
因此可以判断第一个空描述了一组有对立色彩的概念：undemonstrative panache，低调的浮华，相比另外两空（无拘束的热情——不矛盾；没有魅力的笨拙）自然更为恰当，成为不二之选；
判断完第一个空，看第二个空：
“that draws ones attention as if by seeking to ____ it”，前半句说明了这种低调的浮华真正的效果是吸引注意力，而后半句为了表现整道题固有的矛盾张力，以及符合前面“低调”与“炫耀”的对比，我认为选择deflect更为恰当，翻译过来就是“看似转移注意力，其实却是无比引人注目”。
overwhelm，超越、压垮的意思，这里我实在领会不了在句子当中的逻辑，因此我认为这道题应该选AF
