我是7.13被拒的,这一个月一直比较痛苦,把签证过程贴出来准备即将到来的二签,请大家给点建议.谢谢大家:
背景:PH.D. 现在专业:Automotive Engineering. Ph.D. Major: Mechanical Engineering. 全奖.以下是签证过程,在上海签的,男VO.国内学校一般,美国学校Engineering in 50.
Me: Hi, Sir, Nice to meet you/
Visa Officer: Nice to meet you, how are you?
Me: Fine, thank you and you?
Visa Officer: Why do you choose ...?
Me: Because there has a good match between my current research and my future advisor’s research, and I am very interested in his research. Moreover, ... has a strong research in my speciality. So I choose this university.
Visa Officer: What’s your major?
Me: My current major is automotive engineering, my future major is mechanical engineering. You see, automotive engineering is a branch of mechanical engineering and they are much related with each other.
Visa Officer: Automotive Engineering? (Looks very surprising, and circle automotive engineering in my visa application form at the same time)
Visa Officer: When did you graduate from your school?
Me: Last month, and I just got my master degree one week ago.
Visa Officer: Do you have working experience?
Me: No, because I just graduated from my university. But I have many research experiences, during my graduate study, I worked as my graduate advisor’s RA and attended many projects. These research experiences are much related with my future Ph.D. study.
Visa Officer: Why do you think this time is the best time for you to pursue a Ph.D. study?
Me: Because in my eyes, if you really want to do something in your field research, you should start from the highest degree, I think after I get my Ph.D. degree, my future research would conduct smoothly.
Visa Officer: What’s your future plan?
Me: After I get my Ph.D. degree, I will come back to find a faculty position in my current university—....
Visa Officer: Why this university?
Me: Because this university has a strong research in my field in China, it has built some advanced labs in my field. In addition, this university provides many wonderful policies toward young faculties, especially those Ph.D. holders from advanced countries. What’s more, I have been liven in this university for seven years, I hold a deep attachment toward it and want to make my contribution toward its development.
Visa Officer: I am sorry, I can not issue you the visa today. I think you should work for some years, then apply for it again. (stamp the rejection at the same time)(Frankly speaking, I did not realize he would reject me)
Me: I said a lot to against his opinion.
Visa Officer: You can reapply, but I suggest you work for some years.
