38. In the age of television, reading books is not as important as it once was. People can learn as much by watching television as they can by reading books.
1.电视技术有很多好处.
2.电视技术也有很多不好的地方.
3.书仍然不可替代.很多东西是电视所不能表现的.

In the modern times, as television technology has developed maturely, young generations watch more and more television while reading less books than the older ones. From TV programs, people can gain much information and knowledge, but not all, so books are still important in daily life.
There is no doubt that television holds certain advantages over books for imparting certain types of knowledge, because TV uses multimedia to show information while books can use only one. We can gain vivid images and the hearable explanations when we want to know some knowledge. The more medias we touch with, the more information we can learn, and the more easily we understand the knowledge. As we explain the universe, we are able to show it with the use of three dimensions technology on TV, which make us conveniently to acquire all the information about the such as Milky Way galaxy. We see the sun, the earth, the moon, and how they run round each other vividly, that is what books cannot show to us.
However, due to the well developed technology and public media, not all the TV programs are good to the audiences even some have a reverse effect. TV programs are designed for all the public viewers at least a group of them, which means some or even much of the information in the programs are not needed by us, which maybe waste much of our time, such as advertisements. What is more, a number of TV programs are not fit for some groups of people, especially children, to watch, for they may get wrong information from them and some of the children get addicted to them while they have many other things to do.
Additionally, books still have their state in modern daily life in consider of some factors especially the costs. Books are the cheaper way to transport information which use less human resources and money to collect more information and send it to every corner of the world, such as magazines. Because its low costs, we have a huge many types of books to choose, which shows us varieties of information. That is what TV programs cannot provide to us, which needs costly equipments and more people.
In sum, television shows us animated knowledge that can be understand easily by us, however TV programs cannot touch all the aspects of our life, then we still need books, the tradition form of gaining information. |
