In this argument, the author comes to the conclusion that the dentist should pay more attention on attraction to the male, the effectiveness of their anesthetic techniques and the sensitivity of their staff to the patients. To support these points, the author also cites that men are more likely to be distressed during the process of dental work than women are. However, the argument actually relays on a couple of specious assumptions, which render it unconvincing as it stands.

First and foremost, the statistical collection lends no evidence to bolster the suggestion that men are likely to be distress about having dental work done than women are. Having recognized other key factors, it is just fact that the patients’ behavior inherently associate with the dentist’ experience and measure of treatment. It is entirely possible that an inexperienced dentist poor in sensitivity of the patients easily cause huge pressure on the patient in order that the patient faint. It is also entirely possible that the patients in bad mental condition are more likely to faint than those in good metal condition. In addition, if most women who faint fail to be reported for various reasons, the reasoning is open to dubitable as well.

Turn to next about the hasty suggestion that the dentist should concentrate on the advertisement to men. But it is not the case. Common sense and experience tell us that even if men are more likely to faint, the phenomenon does not parallel the increment in the number of male consumer. Conversely, if the female consumers’ need in fact would increase largely, then the hospital has to face a rather big lose.

Finally, the author fail to consider and rule out other factor before making the relate strategy. Except from the effectiveness of the anesthetic technique and sensitivities of the staff as it speaks, maybe the consumer more focus on the other factors such as ability of the dentist, the cleanness of the hospital, the price of the treatment, and so forth. Under the same circumstance the consumer of course would like to a comparatively cleaner, cheaper and more effective ones. Given that possible scenario, the final suggestion is not reliable.

In sum, the author unfairly convinces me as according to the analysis mentioned above. To strengthen the argument the author should provide some specific information about the report. To evaluate the suggestions the author should heighten the awareness of other factors that might have an effect on the result of the advertisement.
