The speaker concludes that the absence of choice is a circumstance that is very, very rare. I fundamental agree with this conclusion. The contrary view may reveal that in some circumstances we have no choice but to do some typical thing because of the objective surrounds and situations. However, in my view, choice is not only made to chose the outside situations but also chose one's inside attitude toward it. Thus, while there are some objective factors beyond our control, our attitudes and reactions toward it are still in our hands.

Undoubtedly, there are always some situations which one cannot handle for the reason that the power of a single person is so limited that the objective circumstance cannot be changed by one's will. It seems that we are pushed by the irresistible force from the nature and the society. We have no choice about the coming of flood or typhoon because they are only decided by the global environment. We also fail to decide the era or the country in which we are born, which also means we cannot chose the political environment and the average living standard. All these things are beyond the power of an individual.

However, though they are objective, it doesnot means that we can do nothing facing with these situations. After all, there is a inherent right that no one could deprive it------the free will. In this case, one can chose his attitudes toward these objective situations: to fight with them, to adjust to them or to escape. As a typical example, the famous psychologist, Vickor Frankl, wrote down what he saw in the concentration camp of Nazi in his book, Man's Search for Meaning. The concentration camp is may be the worst condition that a human being could bear with: the prisoners saw their families and friends being sent to the gas chamber but have nothing to do and they never knew when it would turn to themselves. However, just as Vickor Frankl wrote in his book (and I paraphrase): even though they lose all men's right, they still have an inalienable right, the right to chose their attitudes. The psychologist was amazing at the low rate of suicide; the prisoners had chosen their attitudes that they would continuously pursue the chance of surviving .

In addition, even under the objective circumstances, one still has the choice of some concrete and personal issues. Under the certain condition of social education standard which an individual can hardly chose, one have the choice of his or her dream school. When the flood is coming which one cannot avoid, he have the choice between strengthening the damp or moving away from that area. Choice like these are being made by common individuals every day.

To sum up, undoubtedly sometimes we have only one way out which seems that we have no choice, however we can still decide whether to carry on or to give up. There is no thing can restrain our free wills. And most of the time the key to success just relies on our attitudes.

个人觉得洪水的例子在这里举不好因为这里说个人每天做的选择  大多数情况遇到洪水还是很难得的事

我来总结一下LZ观点。
选择分两种，选择客观环境和自己的态度。
客观环境我们的确无法选择，但我们可以选择自己的态度。即使在最艰难的环境中我们也可以选择屈服或者抗争。
前面都很好，In addition 的那段不是很充分。
