A nation should require all of its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college.
Writea response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.
The speaker advocates that the national curriculum for all students should be same before they enter college. I tend to agree that a certain amount of valuable curriculum should be served usefully in any state. At the same time, however, the different conditions in states are distinct in a myriad of respects and the arrangement of the curriculums should according to the personalities of students.
The identical curriculum of different states rely on three arguments for educational system in the process. The first and foremost, it is the precondition that some sorts of essential knowledge as well as morality should be acquired in everywhere, no matter in which counties or states. The unanimous curriculum can guarantee that
all of our students be favored with the opportunity to learn all merits of the traditional values that have been created and tested for a long time by our ancestors. The second argument is that some kinds of scientific common sense such as maths and chemistry should be attained by every student. The third argument is that it can provide a predictable foundation upon which college administrators and faculty could more easily build curricular and select course materials for freshmen.
Considering the different conditions of states, however, the practicable of that assumption is dubious throughout the country. On the first place, in some special regions where local persons may possess some kind of traditions and customs totally different from the rest of the nation, unduly emphasize the application of the national curriculum may ruin their culture and value system. Indeed, under certain educational resources and appropriation, it is not possible for all the students in different states obtain educational resources equally. Furthermore, for some students who with one or two fortes in art school, it is more significant for them to learn fortes well rather than learn other knowledge.
Given to the distinguished personalities of students, unifying the curriculum is disbennifited. Managing a kind of surviving skills is more important than entering into the college. In the united states of America, there are about 40 to 50 persent of students who can be accepted into collage. Therefore, it is substantial for the rest of students focus on their surviving skills. In addition, the individual characteristics should not be ignored in terms of the future field of the country. It is such individualities that encouraged the innovation which we should all valued on it. Some countries like China, for its standard and even rigid education system, the children’s innovations are so seriously inhibited that it is hard for them to create the advanced technology.
In fact, when we confront the speaker’s claim, we should first give thought to what is the real core of education. Education comes from deep thinking of the life with brains and minds; it achieves the perfect life on the strength of courage and wisdom by means of visionary change and rational upgrade to promote social and human development. Our life is as a desert, and our life's work is to make the desert out perfect flower by learning knowledge.
In sum, to take account of the intrinsic quality of education and due to the concrete situation of different states, the optimal federal approach, in my view, is a balance between the basic curriculum in unified and the rest characteristic curriculum in the different states. |
