(Thu Aug 21 23:50:27 2003)
M: nice to meet you, sir!
V: How are u?
M: Fine! and you?
V: Fine. and it is your second time?
M: Yes,
V: (看我的ds表)you are working in xxx company?
M: Yes
V:(看我的i20)you will study for the master in economics?
M: Yes, and I will focus on the theory of industrial organization...(被打断)
V: you will spend...(看i20的资金那项)
M: I will spend $30k
V: well, the uni. gave you some scholarship
M: yes!
V: what's your salary now?
M: xxx annually,
V: what will you do after your graudation?
M: I would join the investment bank...(打断)
V: which investment bank?
M: CICC
v: Do you know anybody in it?
M: well, CICC recommended my company to issue debt securities in China market
and I...(打断)
V: Do you know anybody in it?
M: yes, I have some friends working in it
yes, I made some
friends in CICC because it recommended....)
V: do you have a support letter from it?
M: no...(我当然不可能有!)
V: why would you work in it?
M: well, I knew from my friends that their job, as an investment analyst, is e
xciting and challeging, and their salary is much higher than I, as an accounta
nt,
V: how much do they earn?
M: about five times as mine.
V: (自言自语)then it is xxxx (用我的工资乘以5).
V: why to the US?
M:I need the theory of industrial organization to move from my current accoun
ting area to the investment bank.
V: why not in uni. of China?
M: the research is quite young in China. an example is china hasn't had a text
book edited by Chinese professor till now. while it has a 80 year history in t
he US. I long for the professional training in the US.
V: why not work in the US?
M: well I would have many more oppotunities in China. The industry of investme
nt bank is highly developed in the US, while it is quite young in China becaus
e of many regulations. But the regulations would be called off according to th
e requirement of WTO. So the number of investment bank would increase very qui
ckly in a few years in China, and the openings...(打断)
V:but do you know &^$&@#%^ (估计是说中国人在美国投行的人也很多!)
M: (我摇摇头)I don't think so. apart from much higher requirments in the US,
the language, culture difference and the networking in human resourse would b
e very big obstacles for Chinese in the industry of investment bank in the US.
V: but many Chinese could overcome these difficulties
M: (我实在没有什么可说的了)but...
V: you are not qualified for the visa. you could get a job in the US.
M: (美男的确比较nice, 所以我斗胆跟他再纠缠了几句)but why?
M: you know the networking in human resource is very important, especially in
the investment bank. I have it in China but not in the US.
V: but %$&^&^^ many %$ in the US (还是没听懂。
说很多中国人还是能克服,从而找到投行的工作)you could get the job in the US.
oh, I have the supporting letter from the professor, do you li
ke to have a look?
V: no. I believe you would be a student. but @#$#@% (估计又是什么你能找到工作什
么的)
M:(被他死咬住了,还有什么好说?)so what changes do I need to get this visa?
V: (耸耸肩)i don't know. @#@$@% maybe one travel to the US, maybe a master i
n China,
