不多麻烦大家,就求拍这一次,不用太仔细的看,就帮我看看有没有什么大问题大漏洞就行,因为一直是自己改的作文,担心有没有哪里自己一直没有发现,谢谢各位好心的高手和版主们了~

208"The way people look, dress, and act reveals their attitudes and interests. You can tell much about a society's ideas and values by observing the appearance and behavior of its people."

According to this statement, people’s way of dress and conduct reveals their opinion and their society’s value. I fundamentally agree with the speaker insofar as sometimes we could understand people’s idea and the whole society’s attitude through their clothes and act. However, in some cases, the way people look may be determined by their living or working environment, rather than their value system. And apart from citizens’ behavior, there are plenty of other paths through which we could judge a society’s idea.

There is no denying that certain characters of people’s outward appearance do indicate their opinions, ideas and value systems. The world around us is replete with examples that aptly illustrate this viewpoint. People in Arabian countries usually wear conservative and uniform apparel, like black aba and white headcloth, which reveals the whole society’s recognition of their religious belief and traditional custom. And societies like Japan’s in which people dress formally and look solemn, usually place higher value on an order and inerratic community, rather than personal pleasure. Likewise, people from America prefer casual and relaxing wearing such as jeans and T-shirts. These typical appearances exactly indicate their regard of convenience and individualism, as well as their extrovert character.

Turing next to the way people act. The conducts, habits, rituals actually give us information about the culture’s attitude. For instance, American people are more likely to hug each other when they meet somebody else. This practice largely depends on the warm attitude and open mind of America culture. Similarly, through the gentle, respectful and courteous behavior of English people, we could definitely realize English civilizations regard of human dignity. Furthermore, Chinese people always entertain their customs in very hospitable and polite manner, which shows that the traditional Chinese culture lays remarkable emphasis on generous and affection toward others.

However, in some cases, people’s appearance and behavior are not consistent with their ideas and values, but determined by their pragmatic needs and their working environment. Consider, for example, people bundle up in frozen areas while they just put on few clothes in tropical and humid climates. Under these two conditions, people’s outward appearance is more a reflection of their actual living requirement than their inner thought. Another illustration involves the uniform of construction workers. It is obvious that the purpose of wearing helmets and boots is to keep the labours safe and make them work more conveniently, but has little to do with their attitudes or interests. What is more, in some oppressed societies, people have little chance and right to speak freely and behave at their will. In this circumstance, people’s conduct may not properly express their preference and value, but only to comply with the government’s policy and maneuvering.

Apart from the way people look and dress, there are a variety of other means by which we could understand a culture’s value. For example, investigation of a nation’s political system can serve to understand its notion of an efficiency community. And with the benefit of studying a country’s laws, we could find out the common moral standard of justness and fairness. Moreover, it is the research of arts that tells us the culture’s judgment of beauty and charm. Thus, we may not get a comprehensive conception of a society’s value if we only concentrate on its people’s external characteristics.

To sum up, in some cases, we could comprehend people’s opinion and get knowledge about their society’s idea with the benefit of observing their dressing and behavior, in some other cases, we could not. And to better judge a culture’s value, we should not only place high value on its people’s appearance, but also deeply investigating its politics, laws, arts and so on.
