The environmental issue is too complex to be handled by the individual. Do you agree or disagree?

How to protect our global environment and conserve energy for our next generations? It is an issue which has been discussed over time. Some people contend that everybody should shoulder the responsibility to protect the environment; others believe that worldwide cooperation is a more efficient way. From my perspective, I think the environment issue is too complicated to be handled by individuals. In other words, worldwide collaboration is needed to solve the environmental problems. The reasons are as follows.

Firstly, hardly could individuals successfully handle the environmental issue. Many people are not aware of the importance of environmental problems. Since people received different education, it is not easy for every one to know how to protect our earth. Moreover, people act according to their short-term motives and self interests. It is unfair to let individuals to make sacrifices while the others do not.Thus it is not realistic to expect individuals to shoulder the responsibilities.

Secondly, unlike individuals, a single country or a global organization have more energy to protect the environment, thus they play an indispensable role on the environmental protection. For a country, it could set up special funds to support the issue and implement a law to force its citizens to protect the environment. For cooperation among worldwide countries, an organization should be built to handle the environmental problems. Usually global cooperation is a more efficient way, because other countries' experiences could be learned and more resources can be shared, experts from different countries could communicate with each other to think of practical methods.

Thirdly, some serious environmental problems can not be solved by individuals or even a whole country. For example, global warming is a serious problem which threatens the vegetations and animals in all countries. If only one country release less carbon dioxide to the air, the process of global warming will not be ceased. That's why an agreement among different countries is necessary to decrease the speed. Another example is that the problem of pollution such as water pollution and air pollution easily transcends the national in all nations. Thus more countries have to cooperate, or all will suffer.

To sum up, for individuals are selfish, and their energy is not sufficient, the environmental issue is too complex to be handled by them. Only when all countries cooperate to solve the problem, could the environmental issue be handled successfully.
