According to the table, it is noticeable that the consumer spending is divided into three parts. The spending on food, drinks and tobacco is the top one, ranging from 15% to 30%. Clothing and footwear ranks second, accounting for about 6%, excepted for Italy, which spending is making up 9%. In terms of leisure and education, it only takes up no mare than 4.5%.
In addition, the spending of Ireland and Turkey on food, drinks and tobacco constitutes of about 30% of the total, while others only spend about 17%. On the contrast, Italy spend more money on clothing and footwear than others, and the money spends on leisure and education in Turkey is as twice as others counties, excepted Sweden, which takes up 3%.
In conclusion, it is clearly demonstrated that the people in five countries are most likely to spend money on food, rather than clothing and leisure in 2002, and Turkey and Italy are spending more on food and leisure, and clothing, respectively.
