Do education will be truly effective merely when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student? There is no doubt that education should pay more attention on the needs and interest of students. However, it is impossible for education to satisfy every student. Meanwhile, whether education is effective or not is merely rarely determined by it meet the individual needs and interests of every student.
To the best of our knowledge, since one of goals of education is to develop students' professional and technological skills, it is needs and interests that play an important role for students as to attain this goal. On a personal level, students without interests will fail to attain motivation in studying and as a result he might teeter in the way to success. On a social level, if we ignore interests and needs of students, the endeavor of students would serve to failure and frustrate the whole society because everyone follow the way they does not like absolutely and they can not do the best with what God gives them. A saying “Interest is the best teacher” goes by celebrated physicist Albert Einstein expresses many people. The apt example involves the famous scientist Qian Xuesen. When he was young, he was interests on chemistry and paid vast majority of time on it. During the learning time he even made a bomb by himself which successfully exploded. Thanks to his interest on science and his untiring endeavor Qian Xuesen turned out to be an outstanding scientist who made important contribution to missile program of both the United States and China. Therefore, it is vital that our education should be placed on interests and needs of students.
Having recognized the importance of needs and interests of students, by no means should we deny it is impossible for education to satisfy every student. On the one hand, actually, the sources for education, such as teachers, schools, school canteens and dormitories, are limited while every student' need and interest appear to be different. Suppose one student is interested on golf, so do we have to sacrifice large land for his golf course? On the other hand, when it involves base subjects, such as mathematics, physics and so on, which are not welcomed by many students, should we discard them just for interest and needs of those students? Hence, it is obviously far away from facts and rarely meaningful if we try our best to fulfill ever students' interests and needs.
In the final analysis, not only does the aim of education involve the development of the technological and professional skills, but also it involves help students to build correct worldviews and value systems. According the definition of the aim of education by United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization in 1996, the definition involves learning to do as well as learning to be. If we just guide students merely according to their interests and teach them to “learn to do”, while ignoring other indispensable elements, such as patriotism and justice, which can attribute to “learning to be”, it’s believed that education in our perspectives would come out to be defective. In a result, the students would suffer. And if students suffer, the world suffers.

Education is one of the key words in modern society, andthere are always many
controversies on how to make education more effective. Atthe first blush, it is tempting to agree on the speaker's assertion thateffective education is which(what吧) meetsindividual needs and interests, based on that interests and needs are themotivation and purpose of efficient study. However, my personal experience and actual observation to the life tell me the statement isunrealistic and empirical.
I concede that individual needs and interests might be the purpose and motivation of efficient study. It is bored to undertake a work with no interests andpersonal pursuits. Moreover, without interests and needs, individual's creativity and potential would hard to beinspired, which easily results in ineffectivity and inefficiency. That is alsowhy Einstein could not be a qualified clerk in his early life but a prominentphysicist later.
Yet, as we all know, education aims at raising responsible citizens who canbetter our society. Therefore, truly effective education is also one that canguide students to meet the requirements of society. It should point out acorrect and valuable direction for students' interests, needs andgreat efforts on studying, and make contributing to society becomecommon values. In contrast, to overemphasize students' interests and needsmight have opposite effects. If so(似乎没有因果关系), beside(按照你的意思,应该是写成besides吧) the interestson immoral or illegal behaviors cannot be allowed, we would be haunted by the prospectof uneven distribution of human resources. For example, if most studentsinterest on nature science, but little on humanities and social sciences, thenthe society would lacks of people who research on art, economy, politics and soon. It would undoubtedly hamper development. (这句话太突然,应该加一句,大多数学生兴趣在自然科学,所以教育大大投入在自然科学上(then we pay more attention on nature science)导致没人从事社会科学)
Furthermore, as the speaker says, our modern educational model, which lastsfor at least a hundred years, might be not effective at all. Because there isno possibility to meet each student's needs and interests with the limited funds, teachers, equipments and so forth. However, as we all know, oursociety now is more civilized and advanced than ever before. It proves thatstudents under contemporary education system create a better(有比较级吗,和谁比) society, which certainly adheres to thepurpose of education. Then, it would be irresponsible to say our education isineffective.
In fact, a truly effective education is one that can make a balance betweenmeeting individual’s requirements and society's. Studentsshould first be guided as ones can better our society. Toward this goal, it isindeed necessary to meet students' personal interests and needs as far aspossible. Because it can drive students to their most efficient and effectivelearning capabilities.
In sum, the speaker's statement, while appealing in some respects, flies in theface of idealism and empiricism(全篇我没发现你有设计经验主义的论述,我想了下,可能在第二段可以加一些论述,说我们的经验和伟人成功的例子告诉我们兴趣和需求是很重要的). Any means taken to better our educationmust first adhere to its purpose-serving our society, then individual'sinterests and needs.
