A new report suggests that men and women experience pain very differently from one another, and that doctors should consider these differences when prescribing pain medications. When researchers administered the same dosage of kappa opioids—a painkiller—to 28 men and 20 women who were having their wisdom teeth extracted, the women reported feeling much less pain than the men, and the easing of pain lasted considerably longer in women. This research suggests that kappa opioids should be prescribed for women whenever pain medication is required, whereas men should be given other kinds of pain medication. In addition, researchers should reevaluate the effects of all medications on men versus women.

1, feel much less pain

2 the ease of pain will longer in women.
3, should reevaluate the effects of all medications on men versus women.

The report concludes that Kappaopioids should be prescribed for women when pain medicine is required, while men should consider other medicines, and researchers should reevaluate the effects of all medications on men versus women. This conclusion is based on a recent survey that the Kappaopioids-a painkiller-revealed different effects between different gender in a group of people with wisdom teeth extracted. This argument is not logically persuasive, however, because it relies on numerous shaky assumptions for which no evidence has been given.

To begin with, the feelings of much less pain and longer time of ease that reported by women would not be an accurate indicator of the effects of this medicine. There is a possibility that women are more endurable for pain feelings. In other words, women would feel less painful than men in the same level of severity of pain because of their different physical characteristic. Since the author has not ruled out these subjective possibilities, we cannot fully evaluate the effect of this medicine between women and men.

In addition, even the Kappaopioids do exert a better effect on women with wisdom teeth extracted, however, this may not be representative for the effects in other kinds of pain, such as stomach pain or the body wounds. There may be a great possibility that the medicine will have a better effect in men than women in other pain situation. Since the author provides no evidence of the application of this medicine to other pain situation in men and women, we cannot assume that this medicine would be effective only when applied to women.

Finally, even though this medicine has better treatment to women than men, the author fails to consider the feasibility and necessity to require researchers to reevaluate the effects of all the medicines to men and women. Only one medicine turns out to be more effective to women will not necessarily indicate all other medicines should be reevaluate. Moreover, since there are too many kinds of medicine in the market, it is nearly impossible to reevaluate all of them, and the money applied to realize this suggestion could be better spent in other ways.

In conclusion, this argument is logically unsound. If the author could demonstrate that the real level of pain and the time of suffering among women and men are the same, and that this effect would be the same when applied to other pain situation, as well as the feasibility and necessity of this suggestion, this argument would be much stronger. Without the additional information, we will be wary about accepting this argument's conclusion.
