Topic: “reform is seldom brought about by people who are concerned with their own reputation and social standing .Those who are really in earnest about reforming a government , an educational system, or any other institution must be willing to be viewed with disdain by the rest of the world. ”

Reform, as far as I concerned is a change in an institution, government and probably
even the whole society. The kind of people who are willing to make alters to the existing state

of affairs must be full of courage and most of them have the confidence that they will make the future affairs better. Thus self-esteem and tenacity should be the two characteristics of
the reformers which will make them pride and unwilling to be looked on with scorn by others.

The desire for a bright future and do not content with the actualities is the main reason of a reform.
True reformers must be the one who have the ability and are urged to stand

out to lead the others to change the current situations. In this case, the person who
stand out should have the willing to be unique and gradually try
to seek his or her 's
reputation.

As the president Franklin Roosevelt said:" The world can be changed by men's endeavor, and that this endeavor can lead to something new and better. No one can sever the bounds that unite him to the society simply by averting his eyes. He must ever be receptive and sensitive to the new; and have the sufficient courage and skill to novel facts and deal with them." President Roosevelt is the kind of person he describes and no one can deny that he is an excellent reformer. In all his life he is confident and calm and since his good education during early years, he tend to be amour propre, and also respected by people.

In this case, if one who is really willing to be looked down by others, I think he must lack self-respect and never looking for a reverse. He should be satisfied with his current condition,
so looking forward this man to change is unwise and his leading other people to alter and found something new was a daylight dream as far as I concerned. So it is clear that the man who do not care about his fame and are readily to be viewed with disdain lack the necessary personalities a reformer need which are courage and self-esteem.

On the other hand, some one would say that if a man cares about his reputation and social standing, he would never want a change that he could not become a reformer, and on the contrast a man with no concern about his reputation would want to reverse and set up a new program with no faring to be looked on with scorn by others. However, There are even some reformers who would make utilizations of the reform to promote his status in our society, especially the politicians. They want to own more respect and memorized by the history, so a successful reform would be good choice for them. Thus, caring about one's own reputation and social statue is not obstacle to become a reformer, contrarily it sometimes stimulate a person to become a  reformer. Meanwhile, a successful reformer who "do not pay attention to his fame" is a mistaken about his character which is an only outside phenomenon, while in his real mind, he should be too confident that he believes a right decision will be made that he seldom accept other's suggestion which is not mean he do not care about his reputation.

Finally, it is easy and simple to draw a conclusion that firstly, the two necessary elements an reformer need is self-esteem and tenacity. Thus they could not be readily to be look down by others with self-respect. Secondly, caring about fame and social standing is not an stumbling block to a reformer and sometimes reformers concerned much about them.
