         Does Government Should Support Large Cities to Protect Traditional Culture?

It is sure that governments should take measures to protect cultural traditions, such as supplying financial support. However, whether to support large cities or small cities and countryside depends on where the cultural traditions are. In fact, the traditions usually live in the small towns and villages but not great cities.

On one hand, major cities are the most prospective places of a nation, combining with large number of immigrants and multiply culture. Traditional culture has diminished in these cities due to the melting of modern styles and diverse values. Modern buildings and international infrastructures and common here, by the contrast, it is hard to find shadow of old times. Take New York of America for example. New York is among the metropolis cities in America, with a majority of people from Europe, Australia and Asia countries. The clashing of different cultures make the city generous to accept varified life styles and thoughts and people enjoy talking freely. Major festivals such as Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, Liberation Day may still on, but as to the ancient life style, classic architectures, old languages, the large cities can not provide. Americans love to travel at weekends and in holidays, not only to enjoy the beautiful scenic of villages, but also seek the old life to comfort soul and peace exhausting heart.


On the other hand, small towns and villages are usually the origin of human beings. Due to the inconvenience of information and slow development, it is possible to hold classic culture here. Throughout the history of the world, each nation has discovered the sculptures of ancestors in places poor and far away. China's earliest ancient bones are found in the caves of outskirts in Beijing. In America, when you want to listen the original country music that on behalf of America, you have to drive to the countryside, far away from Washington or Manhattan. If you would like to know how ancient American lives long time ago, you had better hike to the tribes in the villages or the outskirts of cities. Lack of quick economic development in the villages, people there still stick to the old life styles, keeping the unique festivals and holding old stories that passed down. Therefore, villages and small places are apt to own traditional culture.

In order to keep the colorful and unique traditional culture, it is essential for governments to give financial support and law protect for those traditional places. While, where to protect not depends on it is big or small city, but whether it owns the classic culture or not. Even it is just a place that nobody would like to visit, we also have the responsibility to maintain its existing.

In conclusion, traditional culture is the symbol of a nation, which gives life of a country and identifies the nation from others in the world. As long as the culture is worth protecting, no matter in major cities or small towns and poor villages, governments have no doubt to give support to these places.
