"In the age of television, reading books is not as important as it once was. People can learn as much by watching television as they can by reading books."
随着现在电视的普及，越来越多的人们更加愿意把平时的放松时间用于看电视而不是看书，然而这是否代表了数江湖被电视取代而成为历史呢？我不这样认为，因为阅读和电视都有自己无法取代的优点。
1.
首先，阅读可以给人们以主动想想的空间，这也就是为什么及时很多小说已经背傍上了银幕，小说的销售量却依旧攀升。
2.
书携带起来更方便，也不受时间和地点的限制，这样的自由可以是的我们获取知识更加主动。
3.
电视的普及似的对于一些人们难以理解的理论有了直观的概念，例如对霍金的理论的解释。

诚然，电视的普及也有琦深远的意义，例如它让我们在获取信息是可以更加直观和全面，尤其是对于新闻，时事的，要求的是时效性。
然而，在这些报道背后所隐藏的更加深刻的内涵可能是书籍才能够告诉我们的。例如我们只是在电视上看到世界经济危机的报道，而到底是什么导致了经济危机却只有书籍才能给我们系统儿综合的答案。
书籍和电视都是我们获取信息的重要途径，只有充分发挥他们各自的作用才能够让我们获取更多的知识以适应社会的发展。

Along with the popularization of television, our people , in an increasing number, prefer to watch television rather than read books to obtain information during their leisure time. Are this phenomenon indicate that nowadays books are no longer as important as television? From my point of view,both reading books and watching television
has their unique advantages which can not
be replaced by each other.

On one hand, reading can leave us the space of imagining and thinking independently——that is why a large number of novels ,like <Gone with the wind>and <Harry Potter>and so on——can keep their sales rising dramatically even though the stories have been deduced by actors. Perhaps the fancination of reading is just like Shakespeare said ”If there are one hundred
people read my book ,then there will be one hundred Hamlet”. We love reading because the complex motion aroused by the varieties of our perspective and imagination .

Furthermore, we can read books free from the limits of time, place ,and apparatus. For instance, we can learn the history of our human being on the plane but we can not watch <Friends> at the same place. Thanks for the convenience of reading ,we can gain knowledge at anytime anywhere.The facility of learning makes it possible for us to learn knowledge initiative.

On the other hand, television can provide us comprehensive feeling so that we can learn things more effective under some conditions and this advantage always reveals when we use it for scientific and technological education. For example, when we feel curious about the theory of universal explosion and black hole proposed by Hawking, the assistance of television can interpret “the history of time ” by a vivid method. This kind of education may be more directly and easier for our folks to accept. When we have difficulties in comprehending
some knowledge, we can rely on the television.

Another advantage of television is that we can gain information immidiately when some events occur. The media can show us the procession of president election in USA or a sports game, like basketball and football, in live. However, the imagine and sound can only show us the surface of some problem but fail to touch the nature. Take one instance, we can only see the depressive conditions caused by the global economic crisis ,however, when we want to learn the theory of economics related to the crisis, reading books will be our best choice because books can give us a systematic and comprehensive structure and content of knowledge.

To sum, both books and television are effective methods to learn, books leave us a free and initiative space while television provide us an effective and directive style. Only when both of their functions are brought into play can we learn knowledge comprehensive and effective.
