TOPIC: ISSUE74 - "The most effective way to communicate an idea or value to large groups of people is through the use of images, not language."

Wondering which-images or language is the most effective way to communicate? Images would be the answer.

Wondering which-images or language is the best way to communicate your idea to groups of people? I suggest using images.

Before exploring the issue deeply, we need firstly define the evaluation for effective communication. The determining factor of effectiveness and the most important step in communicating as well is to catch others’ eyes, to arouse their interests, to deepen the impression of an idea and digest it most broadly and quickly. If this step is overcome successfully, then deeper communication would be easy. Only when we keep these standards firmly in mind could we recognize the irreplaceable role images play in effective communication.

I advocate the images so firmly, because it is nothing but the physique our minds operate on that determine the undoubted advantage of images in effective communication. Scientific studies have found that, while receiving information by language, people have to firstly remember those language points, build and adjust the construction and connections quite gradually by our own minds. Obviously, both the language receiving and the language digesting process take time and energy. By contrast, only by one eye, people could easily remember the image and soon form their own understanding. Simple access to receive and the high speed digesting make image more effective than language.
Numerous facts prove that.


Just look around, you will find images a more effective helper than language in communication of nearly all fields In classes, more video technique is added to teaching, which could
draw students' attention ,arouse
their interests, successfully avoiding the distraction and boredom sense that appear in teaching via language. When it comes to science, no one could deny the importance of images in the making science popular -vivid images make science easier to access and more interesting for ordinary people than the abstruse explanations do. As for art, unquestionly images are the key that helps communicate an artists' idea to audiences. Just imagine the scene where painters add language introductions to their works- art will lose its taste. In the field of business, wise businessmen are making use of image communication as much as they can, because they know deeply that customers today are too busy to spare time or patience
for the language introduction for their goods. By contrast, images such as advertising pictures or videos would show customers the goods more directly, catch their attention, and finally induce purchasing through the pleasing using scene images describe so vividly. Uncountable example to list, but only one conclusion –by making the communication more vivid and easier to digest, images are more effective than language in initial communication.


However, we could never neglect the fact that with the communication deepening, language would be more effective, cause image though vivid but vague depending on individual understanding, while language would display the idea or value deeper and more accurately. To continue the examples above, however vivid the image is, it is through the language that teachers communicate the core of knowledge to students, that scientists deliver their study in details, that litterateurs bring readers to the free imagine world of their works, that customers learn detail functions of goods. In a word, when the communication is deepening language would be more useful. Nevertheless, that could hardly shake the dominance of images in effectively communication an idea or value to large groups of people, cause rather than through language it is through images we successfully break the initial strangeness, the key process in communication.

To sum up succeed in attracting others’ attention and making the communication easy to digest, using images are the best way to communicate the idea or value to a large groups of people.
