ISSUE25: Anyone can make things bigger and more complex. What requires real effort and courage is to move in the opposite direction——in other words, to make things as simple as possible.

On how to deal with things, some people suggest that making things bigger and more complex is a better way which requires effort and courage, while others prefer making things as simple as possible to the former. From my perspective, I concur with that whether making things more complex or making things much simpler depends on the situations we confront with, and both of the two methods need effort and courage.

Sometimes simplifying things asks for courage and effort due to it may violate other people's benefits. Take the distance between the rich and the poor for example. Actually, to solve the problem, it is a simple and direct way to let the rich give some money to the poor.
But due to this issue involving many other questions in different field, such as economics, politics, yet the government still cannot find a good way to solve it.
Greedy is a nature of human being, and many rich people do not want to donate part of their wealth with the poor. Then, making the rich share money with the poor, people needs effort and courage. Ford, the founder of Ford Car Company, had the courage and he took measurements to improve his worker's income level. Due to his activities, America now becomes the nation who has the most people of middle salary. When Ford took these measures, he bore a lot of pressure and tried his best to realize his thought that making all of his workers can buy a car. So, simplifying things requires courage and effort.

Sometimes, making things become complexity also need effort and courage. On environment protecting issues, in order to let the government support environmentalists’ opinions, people may make things bigger, such as parade. For example, a project of producing chemical products named PX program in Xiamen, a beautiful city in East China. When hearing that a PX program will be located in Xiamen, a number of people thought that this project would influence the environment and the offspring, so they organized a meeting to influence the local government to change the mind. Because of people's effort and courage, the project was stopped at the end.

Whether to simplify a thing or complex a thing depends on the specific situation. For example, the communication in office should be simplified. Nowadays, in order to get a promotion, people would play tricks to others. But this action is not necessary, and a more friend is better than a more enemy. If officer are honest, straightforward, and treat each other like a family, then people will feel comfortable in a office, and the effectiveness would be improved a lot. However, when facing some other problems, for instance, environment protecting as just said above, maybe people should make things become bigger.

Based on what have discussed above, we should take different attitudes to handle with the issue whether to make things bigger or simpler. Due to sometimes making things more complex is good to the development of things, while some other time making things simpler can help much more.

Some people argue that we should do our best to make things as simple as possible rather than to make things big and complex. According to my observation, only after we truly realizing both the positive and negative effects of making things big and complex and making things simple can we find out that it is the conditions of the things that make us decide how to do.

In the first place, let's talk about making things big and complex. It is human's nature to make things big and complex. Since we want to make everything as safe as possible in order to decrease the cost of achieving our destinations and make more benefits for ourselves, we have to consider all the possible situations before we take into action. Just as making a rocket fly into the space, we have to make out all the possible situations such as we cannot fire it, it flies out of its orbit and so forth, and prepare solutions to those bad situations. No one can deny that this process makes things complex. What's more, it is true that making things big and complex costs people a lot of time and makes them feel tired and bored. However, we should not ignore the benefits that this process has brought to us. Just because of this boring process of making things complex, we make the rocket project one of the lowest accident, which saves a lot of money or even the most expensive lives for the nations. Perhaps the Challenge Catastrophe would not happen as the workers made one more check. All in all, though making things complex and big may cost our more time, we need to do so in some situations for the purpose of safe.

In the second place, when it comes to making things simple, there is no denying the fact that it saves our time and brings us some benefits. However, it does not mean that there is no adverse effect of making things simple. In our contemporary society, it is the use of modern facilities that makes our work seems simple. We can take a(an) automobile manufactory as an example to illustrate this point. Nowadays what the workers need to do is just press some buttons to control the robots to assemble the cars instead of doing those works by themselves in the past. It is clear that this change have saved much of our time and made more profits to our society. Nevertheless, we should also keep in mind of the possibly adverse effects of making things simple. Let's take the car making as an example again. If a single place has some mistakes without being checked out as soon as possible, all the cars made will have the same problems. That's why some car companies have to recall their cars back for the reason of brake problems. In short, making things simple do produce lots of benefits to us if they can run all the time without any mistakes.

In the final analysis, it is our obligation to make a right choice about whether we should make a thing complex or simple according to the situations of the thing. If a thing is crucial, significant and has a strong relation with the safeness of people's lives or the dignity of a country, we should cogitate it thoroughly and experiment several times before putting it into practice. If a thing is not so important or has been done by our predecessors, we can make it simple based on the experiences of our predecessor. In a word, in the situation which we need to make a thing complex we must not make it simple and in a situation which we need to make a thing simple it is inappropriate to make it complex.

To sum up, making things complex or simple are two different ways to gain benefits to us according to different situations. In order to improve our lives, we need to learn to choose the proper means in the right situation.

The speaker's statement is effective when applies to the theory such as science and history field. However, it will not be effective when it comes to the application field.

To begin with, the people who work on the theory field adhere to this rule. People spend effortS on details of science can only be called scientific worker, but the people want to make theory of science as simple as possible are the real scientists. Such as theory physics realm. Physicists always are apt to discover a theory which can explain all phenomena in nature. Such as Maxwell’s filed equations which could explain all problems about magnetism and electricity, and the Unified Field Theory put forward by Einstein(后面再说一下这个理论的用处). They all want to find a theory which can apply to all phenomena about field in nature, where physicists spend huge effort. The reason of this is that making theory bigger and more complex is simple, people merely need find a phenomenon and add it to the theory. But when you attempt to find a new simple theory to explain all phenomena, the problem becomes tough. Thus the science realm, we all tend to admire the people who can make things as simple as possible.

In addition, this statement is also effective in the history realm. One of the historians’ jobs is finding out the common place among numerous historical events. In society, lots of people could write the historical book which only contains numerous historical stories. But it is hard to classify these numerous historical events, which is useful for readers. After they classify, readers can simply know there are how many forms of governments, how many kinds of cause of countries die out and how many kinds of causes of war. Thus if we only increase the historical events in book as the time passing, history will not be as useful as it is. Historians make the history more simple and comprehensive.

However, it is not effectual when it comes to the applied field. The particular problem is difficult, such as a technology problem. May（my） mechanics teacher once told us that (I paraphrased) tightening up a screw is not as simple as we think it is(不像我们想象的那么简单，就说明复杂？). In some big automobile industries, the skillful workers know many details about implementing screws, even know how many circles should he turns. Thus we can image that such a simple work, tightening up a screw, has this extremely complex procedure, what would be other complex work. The reason that we need to make things so complex is that the more complex of it the more excellent quality it would be. Those big companies which are hardly to be defeated are due to the complex skill they have. Hence, many people and companies spend tremendous effort on making things complex and bigger.

   To sum up, making things bigger and more complex is easy in theory realm（没有讨论啊）, but we will find contrary phenomena in applied realm. Thus, we cannot assert cursorily that to make things as simple as possible requires real effort and courage but to make things complex does not need.（需不需要勇气你没有讨论，你只是在说明那些领域要怎么弄而已）
