I fully agree with author that making things as simple as possible is the direction which requires real effort and courage. For the reason that making things simple means to have profound understanding of the whole matter and refine the big and complex informations into principle.

Making things bigger and more complex indeed requires effort and courage. As a common sense, if we want to make things bigger and more complex, we should pay much effort to the process and we indeed gain something from it. From the primitive society to the modern society, the world has already been highly-diversified. We are now living a world which possesses larger population and more complex technologies than before. It takes human beings millions of year to accomplish this process. No one can deny that large quantities of effort and courage are devoted into this process and it indeed requires for them.

However, what requires real effort and courage is to move in the opposite direction, but not bigger and more complex. Making things simple means a comprehensive and profound understanding of the whole matter. Making things simple is the end for making things bigger and more complex. As mentioned above, with numerous effort human beings are now living in a bigger and more complex world. Nevertheless, the big and the complex are contribute to a simple ending, a higher living standard. And making things simple also means ultimately to refine the big and complex body of knowledge into principles. For instance, when making a science project, people would like to analyse every possible reasons and try many kinds of methods. No matter how big ang complex is, the simple thing we want to get is outcome based on the analysis. As a result, making simple things is the far-reaching goal behind making things bigger and more complex. That is what requires real effort and courage.
