Issue153: Students should bring certain skepticism to whatever they study. They should question what they are taught instead of accepting it passively.
Many people believe that students should bring certain skepticism to whatever they learn rather than accept it passively. From my perspective, I concur with that people should question what they have learned to some extent.
At the beginning, on treating some problems, students should just accept them. Because these problems have been proved accurately, and testified in practice. Let us see an example in astronomy. Heliocentric theory is a core view in astronomy, which states that the sun is the central of the Solar(太阳系). From Copernicus to Bruno to Newton, the theory has been proved to be right. If a student in nowadays questions the theory and want to prove it again, then it is a waste of time. Because hundreds of years have passed, it always has a reason that the theory still stands. So when facing with this situation, no hesitating, just accept it. It will save you so much time that you can explore another mountain.
However, on treating some knowledge which is immature and still in process, students should question it. Immature knowledge is a knowledge which has not been proved, and there exists many places to improve, so students should question it. On one hand, calling a question can contribute to innovation. In schools, we always attend academic meetings. After hearing what the presenter gives, we always ask ourselves: Is there any problem in his or her paper which can be improved? If one finds a flaw, and settles it, then he or she makes an innovation. Jackknife is a statistic sampling method. Many statistic researchers used the method until Efron, a statistician in America, found a new method named Bootstrap, which made a little step forward on the base of the former method. And now, Bootstrap has become a most popular way to sample. Just because of Efron's question, a new method can come out, and he has brought great progress and innovation.
On the other hand, accepting what other say will lose the ability of thinking independently. Take the people under the control of Nazi Germany for example. During the Second World War, citizens in Germany believed whatever Hitler said, did whatever Hitler asked them to do. If they could think why Hitler broke up the war, what would the war lead to people, then they might not support Hitler, and the war maybe would not occur. In a word, people should question what they have learned.
Based on what have discussed, I find that students should have skepticism to treat some problems, but in some situation, questions have been proved and used for many years, people should just accept them.

The speaker’s statement is compelling and reasonable as skepticism is an essential element of study, which is beneficial to students' study and their future. However, we cannot place too much emphasis on skepticism; otherwise we will attain a contrary consequence.
质疑是学习的一个重要因素,但是不能过分强调,否则就会适得其反。
First of all, if we study with suspicion, we would obtain knowledge more quickly and acquire some unexpected harvest. In other words, suspicion will accelerate the progress of study because suspicion would arouse our curiosity about this information and achieve a more profound level of the knowledge we are learning. We all have such an experience: when we are listening or reading a book, if we accept knowledge passively, we will soon feel tired and sleepy. On the contrary, querying the correctness of the knowledge teacher taught will arouse our interest of the class or book. And it also can arouse our motivation to explore relevant field, as my electrodynamics' teacher always said "query the validity of it, you will get more". If we query whether it can apply to every circumstance, we will get some knowledge of another field. For example, after you have learned a math theory, some students will doubt whether it can apply to some particular question such as physics question, then they attempt to solve a physics problem by this math theory. Through this process, we can assimilate both the math theory and physics theory. Hence, maintaining an attitude of skepticism will benefit to our study.
如果带着质疑学习,那么我们能更快地获得知识和意想不到的收获。
Secondly, the ability of suspicion is an important factor of breakthrough. If we only believe the authorities, we could merely work by the way authorities defined and repair the minor flaws of the authorities’ work, but we cannot achieve a significant breakthrough. On the contrary, all the breakthroughs are due to suspicion of authorities. As we all know that Aristotle believe that a thing has velocity is due to the external force, which is a wrong theory. However, this theory had prevailed in thousand years and every one assures the validity of it until Galileo fight against it, he acquaint us with the fact that external force is not the cause of velocity but acceleration. This dynamics theory promotes remarkably the industrial revolution, and Galileo become a great physicist because of this theory. Without skepticism, there will not any one to fight against the authority and conservative power, namely the society will not develop anymore. Thus, only through querying authorities can students have some outstanding breakthrough.
质疑是产生突破的一个重要因素。
However, we should not be skeptical with anything blindly. Through many years development, every field of society is quite flawless now. Thus it is important to study this useful knowledge. If we spend too much time in doubting, there will not(no) sufficient time to study the massive useful knowledge. The result of it is that we cannot question and refute the knowledge reasonably. If a student query with anything taught by teachers and do not spend much time in learning these knowledge, then he would failed(fail) all the courses, not to speak of(这个是不是太chinglish了,建议用not mention to) bringing forward a convincing assumption to refute the knowledge he has studied . The blind suspicion is not based on a generally acquirement of knowledge teacher taught, which is the premise of question.
To sum up, skepticism is an essential element when we study. When we have a sense of skepticism, we will acquire knowledge more quickly and acknowledge more information. Yet the premise of question is a generally acquaintance of these knowledge.
