When it comes to the value of the discipline of the history, the author asserts that the chief benefit of this study relies on break down of the illusion that the people in one period of time are significantly different from people of others times in the history river. To better illustrate this issue, we should notice what has changed as well as what has remained the same for the human beings of different times. On the other hand, the purpose of the study of the history must be cleared: we study history in the aim of search of instruction for the present matter.

This is no true than that during the development of the world, the human beings have changed in some aspects, and remained the same in other terms. The first important change of human in modern society compared to the pristine society is that the attitude of them to the world was changed, which was a result of the development of the science and the technology. With the progress in science, people recognized that the earth is not a squire one but a round one; the rain and the thunder is not determined by the God but the result of the physical progress occurred in the atmosphere around the earth; the emergence of the industry reform encouraged the women to work out of home just as the men do. The case mentioned above just three typical examples. As the new discoveries informed people more and more about the world around us, it is nature the common citizens would understand the world in a more reasonable aspect. Nevertheless, it is also valuable for us to be informed that there is some thing unchanged for human no matter how long the time past and how sophisticated the technologies development. Numerous cases can illustrate this item: people in every period may affect their offspring and pursuit their life goals, as well as chase a comfort life. This is a parte of the human nature, which will never be changed as the time past. People of different time may have various life styles, but all those kinds of life are instructed by the human nature.

Then we should have a look into the function of the history. By studying history, people can learn some experience of their ancestors, which is helpful for the settlement of their own matter. This is the reason why study history makes people wisdom. By noticing men can not create a kind of machine to producing energy, people gave up the desire to design "never-stop machine"; by learning that the market mechanism can not regulate the market well by itself, the American government involved in the economic field of the nation. there are numerous other cases illustrate the profound significance of the study of the history.

As all discussed above, history is a kind of resource for us and the study of which can provide us with experience of dealing with the current problems. As the time pass by, people may change in some aspects but not the nature of them. As a result the chief benefit of history is not to inform people that human of different period of time are significantly different from who lived in any other time of the history.
