Do you agree or disagree?
A job with more vacation time but a low salary is better than a job with a high salary but less vacation time?

        There are certain considerations or factors that everyone takes into account when hunting a job. People may look for jobs with high-salary, long-vacation-period, sense of achievement, pleasure and so on. So when it comes to the statement that a job with more vacation time but a low salary is better than a job with a high salary but less vacation time, people opinions vary. However, I disagree with the statement.
        To a large extent, jobs with more vacation time but a low salary are lack of sense of achievement compared to ones that possess less vacation but high salary. More vacation time means individual can't completely involve and specialize in a certain field, therefore would result in a lack of sense of achievement. Take the job of a investment banker and a bank clerk as an example. An investment banker in Morgan Stanley works at least 12 hours a day, dealing with complicated projects like assisting big companies entering the market of New York Stock Exchange, whereas, a bank clerk who possesses a longer vacation is repeating the same routine of sorting out files and ducuments. Although the bank clerk has more vacation but he/she fails to obtain the excitement from what he/she embarks on.
        Nowadays, most people regard money as a symbol of success. Jobs with low salary are less likely to meet people's needs of lead a high-standard life. In that case, more vacation pales in importance compared to high salary. Although the position of labrarian provides more vacations, it earns only 2000yuan per month which even can't satisfy the basic need of purchasing a television. In contrast, if individual embarks on a career which earns 20,000yuan per month, he/she can lead a good living with the family. So why not choose a job with a higher salary?
        Some people may argue that more vacation time offers individual a chance to discover the beauty in life because he/she could travel to a foreign country with friends, enjoying the beautiful scenery as well as diverse culture and customs. However, the beauty of life lies everywhere in our daily life. As a famous saying goes, it's no short of beauty in our lives, but the eyes for the discovery. In the light of this statement, people who own shorter vacation time can also discover the excitement in life.
         Therefore, when facing the dilemma of salary and vacation when hunting a job, I would rather to choose the one with a high salary but less vacation for it  provides me a sense of achievement and satisfy my need of money as well.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Younger school children (ages five to ten) should be required to study art and music in addition to math, science, history and language.

        Since 1978, art and music have been listed as major courses in the nine-year compulsory education in China. Some people are opposed of this policy, arguing that art and music have less practical usage compared to math, science,history and language . However, young school children should be required to study art and music for they are good for modeling one's characteristics,taping intellectual resources and broadening horizon.
        For those young children who are between the age of five and ten, music and art do good in cultivating one's noble characters. By listening to music and appreciating artwork, individuals are suceptibly influenced by the theme and emotion lying behind them. One of the symphony called The Fate by Beethoven, the German composer, has inspired many generations since it first played out. The sonorous and powerful rhythm encourages those children who are in failure, cultivating their personalities of persistence and bravery as well.
        Intellectual development is one of the important processes in one's early years. Learning to appreciate art and music promotes children's intelligence by expanding their imagination. When exposed to the abstract painting of Picasso and beautiful music of Mozart, one will probably try to imagine a picture in his/her mind, which will widen one's sense of imagination. Albert Einstein, the great physicist in the world, learn to play the violin when he was a child. Einstein once said that it was his early experience of learning violin that make his thought wild, contributing to his physicist career.
        The early experience of art and music will do benifit in broadening one's horizon. To study the art and music is not only a journey to appreciate beauty but also a window to widen one's knowledge, learning the deeper meaning and underlying stories. Mona Lisa Smile, the artwork by Da Vinci during the renaissance period, reflects the theme of Humanism in 15 centuries. Given the chance of  appreciating the artwork of Da Vinci, children will get to know more about the history and cultural background during that period. It is the experience of study art and music that opens the window for children to learn more about the world.
        In one's childhood, math and science help model his/her logical thinking skills while history and language equip oneself with practical skills to some extent. However, art and music is an integral part of one's early years, influencing children characteristics,intelligence and horizon. Therefore, young school children should be required to study art and music.
