Education in university has become a hot topic today due to the attention paid to the youth. When it comes to the quality of the college, I concede that most faculties should have working exeprience relevant to the course they teach, but not all the faculty, because of the essence of education in university.

First, what's the quality of instruction at the college and university level and what's the goal of the instruction at the college and univeristy. In my view, the quality and the goal mean that students in university can do research by themselves can serve the society though long term study. Research is the fundament of a first-class university, however, serving society, is the responsibility of universities. Both of gaols are significant to build a first-class university.

In order to promote the quality of the university, especially serving society, most faculty, who work in engineering area and the areas which need more practice experience, should spend some time working outside inprofessions relevant to the courses they teach. Take the electrical engineering for example, most students will work in the power company and engage in operation and repair, which need a number of practice. However, if the teachers in this area only repeat what the book says, their students won't have a clear concept of the power equipments and the power operation, therefore, some power company have to train their new recruits graduating from university, that waste the resource.

However, not all faculties should have outside working exeperience for the reason that research is the fundament of a first-class university and the university is not a working prepartion calss. The development of society derives from innovation resulting from scientific reseach. Some faculty should devote to reseaching not working outside. Anyone, who just hopes to obtain a good occupation, should go to vocational and technical school. After all, university should provoid students with comprehensive curriculum to cultivate a comprehensive student.

In sum, the how to improve the quality of instruction at the college and university level is a complex issue. However, taking into the nature of the education in university might be a decisive step out of the dilemma. Through some engineer faculty need some working experience, they may still insist on spend most of their time on their research after all the innovation is the most significance goal which promote the level of the society.
