Waitlist or rejected?

I applied Notre Dame's Ph.D on Econ,  I already know a guy has been accepted with 18k fellowship and two guys are on waitlist.  I saw these information on Testmagic almost two weeks ago. I am sure I am definitely not in the first round while not sure if I am on the waitlist. I didn't receive any emails about my application status. Is it suitable to call the director of department about my application ???????   Thank you for answering my question.

Background:
undergraduate: U.S.     (Former finance major) Math Major
GPA: 3.80/4.00
Major GPA:4.00/4.00
GRE: 1480+4.0
No paper, no strong recommendation letters.

So sad.  :(

I got an email from their DGS stating that I got waitlisted on Feb 13. He said they made very few first round offers. So now, it is all contingent on other people's choices. I think the chance for us may not be high and it seems that ND is getting higher recognition among applicants recently.
Your GRE score is impressive and i think you will get other offers.

I knew there is guy from Vietnam is also on the waitlist.
