54.The following appeared in a newsletter on dental health.
"A recent research study reported the experience of dentists whose patients had, over a period of five years, regularly used Flux Dental Floss as part of their dental hygiene routine. The report indicates that these dentists had 50 percent fewer cases of gum disease than did dentists whose patients did not use Flux regularly. In addition, most of the Flux users who were surveyed by their dentists agreed that Flux's mint flavor would encourage people to floss more often. Thus, even though Flux may cost more than other brands of floss, it is clearly a worthwhile investment for those who want to be assured of healthy teeth and gums."

1、50%不明确，不知道调查了多少人，即便可以算数，但调查的人群对结果很有关系，可能用flux的那些人大部分本来就很讲卫生，牙齿情况也较好或者那些不怎么用flux的本身状况就不好。而且不能保证使用flux的不使用其他护齿用品。
2.并不是所有人喜欢flux的薄荷香，可能还会过敏，也没有任何其他品牌相关产品的比较，而且价格还要高。
4.还有一点，即便以上一切都成立，过去五年的情况并不能代表以后的情况，可能因为人们的生活改善了，牙齿卫生状况本来就不错，根本不需要flux。而且gum disease不代表所有的牙病。

        This argument indicates that it is a worthwhile investment for those who want to be assured of healthy teeth and gums to use Flux Dental Floss. And the point seems to be strengthened by the evidence that these who uses Flux regularly suffer 50 percent fewer cases of gum disease in comparison with those haven't use Flux regularly. Meanwhile, the author said that the mint flavor of Flux will encourage people to floss more often. Nevertheless, this argument suffers several logical flaws.
        On the first hand, the argument fails to point out how many patients are being researched over, 50% cannot represent all the patients, not mention the other people all over the world. On the second hand, information of the patients is not enough to support the conclusion, as we can assume that those who use Flux regularly have good habits of keeping their teeth clean and their teeth are always in good positon , or those who did not use Flux regularly have teeth problems all the time. On the third hand, no one knows whether these who use Flux regularly had used other teeth protection products or not, probably, it is the other products that keep them away from gum desease.
        Even if the patients are common people, and regardless of the volume of the people being surveyed, the point that Flux's mint flavor would encourage people to floss more often is a great error. It is obvious that not all the prople love mint lavor, it is possible that large amount of people are allergic to it. Even we suppose all the people are fond of mint lavor, to floss more often may lead to more teeth diseases as teeth are much more likely to be damaged as they are abraded by too often floss.
       Admittedly, we cannot ignore that Flux really works, but what about other brands of floss, there is no evidence that Flux is better than others. Even when Flux costs more, it will not be worthwhile enough to use Flux. What's more, gum disease which is pointed out in the argument doesn't represent all the teeth disease, that is to say, using Flux doesn't mean that we will have healthy teeth, only denotes that we are less likely to suffer gum disease.
       Even if flux can keep our teeth healthy, the survey carried out in the last five years cannot indicate what will happen in the future. Maybe because of the highly developed living condition, people's teeth are much better than before, teeth floss is no longer needed, or other relative products can replace the job floss does with much more convenient ways of using them and much better protection.
       In sum, this argument, while it seems to be logical at first, suffer several vital flaws as discussed above. It is certain that this argument can be improved by providing the evidence that the patients' good teeth condition has a direct correspondent to Flux Dental Floss. It could be further improved by ruling out the reasons why in the future Flux will still be better than other relative products.
