Choice is a basic element of world.
Though it might go to extremes to assert the absence of choice is almost non-existent, yet, in reality, choice exists in a profusion of cases, epecially those situations concerning with human activity.

In the realm of material world, it is relatively correct to assume that most situations are dominated by certainty, since the material world is mainly ruled by conservation laws which are able to predict the future states of objects.
As a common sense, once the initial state is given, the motion of the object can be calculated, in principle, by Newton's laws or the theory of relativity.
However, even in this machine-like world, choice still exists in some cases.
In the microscopic world where the rules of quantum mechanics govern, uncertainty is a basic concept.
According to the theory, it is impossible to predict what a particle is like in the future.

In the situations related to human beings, uncertainty is almost everywhere, for creating possible choices is a sort of human instinct.
Choice is not provided by the society, as many people.
In fact, it is created by human minds.
To explain it, let us get down to fundamentals and accepts that human is constantly motivated by the innate desire for a better life which has served as a propelling power for the society for a long time.
To improve the life condition, a person is surely to change the current the condition, and the change, to some degree is a choice created by human minds.
This applies even to the prisoners.
For them, they are deprived most of their freedom, even the freedom to commit suicide, however, they can still make their own choices.
They could either choose to be serious and careful to do their works or choose to indulge themselves in regret and depression.

It is true that a number of people frequently complain about the lack of choice in their life, however, it is because that they are too lazy or conservative to make a difference.
To some extent, making a choice means to sacrifice something to get others.
For example, if a person chooses to earn more money, he is to sacrifice his to energy to work harder, in order to obtain more money, and if he selects to study a new course, he is to acquire certain knowledge at the cost of his leisure time.
For those people who claim that they live like slaves, it is often not the case that they are deprived of the right to buy cars and learn more.
Actually, they are simply not willing to work harder and entertain less.

Generally speaking, creating and making choice is a part of human nature.
While the material world is mainly governed by certainty, human activities are characterized by randomness.
To some extent, it is choice which distinguishes us from the machine-like world.
