The socialization level of the next generation largely determines the future of our society. Here the term "socialization" emphasizes the assimilation process of social values on youngsters. But some accuse that the current society failed to raise children who can construct a better society. I agree with that perception, for Chinese children are not given by the media of socialization—parents, school, media, etc, the proper values in terms of economical, political and moral socialization. That's a serious problem facing the existing social and educational system in China.(这是我对题目的限定,不写the world at large了,不一样写不了……)
Current socialization gave children the wrong idea about “value”.(经你提醒,我决定把价值观,世界观,人生观摆清楚)As a developing country with high growth rate, China has encountered numerous obstacles. First, as the discrepancy between classes and regions has become more and more distinct, and the living conditions worse, getting rich has become the priority of the young generation. Teachers used to encourage students to be great scientists or artists, but now they advice students to go in for finance, banking or other business that can bring about a big fortune as fast as possible. Stories of upstart entrepreneurs and speculators inspired millions of youngsters to drop out the school and dip into the stock market. Few really care about academic breakthrough or artistic achievement. The whole society is pervaded with a sense of money worship which is advocated by the media of socialization--parents, teachers, peers and the mass media. How could such atmosphere not lead to the collapse of a feeble economy and the deterioration of national strength?
China’s contemporary socialization also communicates the incomplete knowledge about “world”. The national media and propaganda system also misled children on their way to be rational global citizens with strict media censorship intending to create an illusion of peace and prosperity. Children are not given the whole picture of the story nor the opportunity to judge truth from lies-- governmental paternalism did that for them already. Information asymmetry results in two divers perspectives: China is great and the outside world is bad, or, China is miserable and the outside world is great. While the former one seems to prevail, neither of them is really dialectic or critical. These two views are typically contradictory in recent debate over Google's dropping out of China, a large scale of undergraduate students regard Google's claim as a threat to China while few others as a positive protest. In any sense, children should be given more space to think for themselves rather than be purely indoctrinated; otherwise they could not see the problems of Chinese society or find their status on the planet, let alone bringing about a better society.其实我觉得GOOGLE的例子不大好,但其他例子都太和谐了
Worse than money-orientation and national blindness is the sense of egoism, a negative relationship between “others and I”, which leads to certain level of gender unbalance and social apathy. In a fast developing society full of opportunities and competitions, self welfare has rose above anything else. As China adopted the one child policy, every child is coddled and cosseted like apple of the family's eyes. Some parents cater to every needs, reasonable or not, of their child, shielding them from any failures and atrocities. Chinese children pay more attention on their self interest than on others, even their parents.是不该pay attention on the birthday of their parents.语病。They have fewer friends than the precious generation decades before, and are especially lame dealing with the opposite sex. Egoism and a lack of understanding of others may explains both high bachelordom rate and divorce rate. Children are taught by their parents to stay away from strangers or any potential “enemy”, rather than “friends”; as a result, they grew up with a doubtful and distrustful character. This social apathy is by no means the end of a so-called "harmonious society" we are working on.
lame 用错了吗?我查了下,好像是没有lame doing sth的说法 | ■(of a person) naive or inept, especially socially. |
| anyone who doesn't know that is obviously lame. |
For the reasons above, although Chinese young generation is often commended as smart, diligent and emulative, they lack comprehensive and positive understanding of certain virtues that are crucial to a better society, a really harmonious society where various interests, justice and love are cherished. 在这里把better society的定义摆出来会不会太晚了,前面找不着地方。I suspect that they are soundly socialized to be qualified global citizens and healthy individuals or to bring about a better society in China.
还是一边倒的写法……没篇幅升华了,算了……
你的建议很有价值,其实我自己回头看也觉得有血肉没有骨架,加上几句主题句是不是要好点, 在critical thinking 方面,只能说大家意见不一样了
