In the recent years, people around the world are beginning establishing self individuality. The individuality manifests in a variety aspects, including appearance, behavior, interests, and so on. Admittedly, it is the individuality that brings diverse ideas and thoughts providing useful methods to solve problems. However, we should not overlook the function of conformity, especially in the competitive world. Cooperation and teamwork are replacing the individual activity gradually on the way towards success.



Individuality increases the diversity of society, providing various possible solutions for various problems we face. In the commercial world, individuality helps firms to concentrate on bringing in diversified products to meet various needs of different groups of consumers; in the cultural areas, individuality makes it possible to satisfy different tastes of readers and audience in different ages and backgrounds; in the politic world, individuality enables officials to build up self-image that different from the others to win public support. Without individuality, we will be living in a less splendid society, where everything is identical to the others and everyone is just "copy" from others. Such monotony society will inhibit new ideas and thus prevent innovations and advancements.

However, individuality causes problems as well as brings in various minds. If we pay a little attention to the TV talk shows, we will easily find the most time is full of meaningless debates and conflicts. The guests debating there are not actually trying to offer solutions to particular problems, but simply want to show their own individualities on the stage. Such problem appears in other areas like science and politics. Too much individuality would make it even harder to achieve a certain result, for the scientists from different genres would base their theories on different assumptions. Political leaders are more harassed by the individuality since senate standing for different interest groups can hardly agree with each other's proposals. Under such circumstances, individuality in deed put us in a more complicated scenarios that uniform result can be hardly reached.

Moreover, modern society requires the power from cooperation and team work more than individual behaviors. The reason is simple--cooperation and team work gather individual power to form a stronger one. Unlike meaningless TV talk shows, cooperation is to contain various views and methods in order to come up with a new aggregate one, which absorbs the advantages and avoids the disadvantages of each view. Anyone who concerns the global corporations will find that the most successful ones are those who cooperate with the foreign institutions or merchants. A product that wants to occupy certain market share in foreign areas must be adapted to the local customs and consumer preferences. Maintaining individuality sometimes may be a disaster when it comes into a new market.

In the final analysis, we should emphasize the significance of individuality but not ignore the important role conformity plays in our society. Only when conformity can be best included various individualities to reach a comprehensive solution, the value of both can be revealed and certain problems may be solved.
