In response to this issue, I concede that some art works reveal the hidden ideas and impulses of a society. Yet, some arts are only reflections of internal heart of individuals'. In fact, ideas and impulses of the society can be displayed by many other approaches.

The arts embody the value and character of the society as they originate from people's lives as well as reflect people's thinking, which can be kept in several forms, such as note, letter, etc. An ancient Chinese drawing can be a typical example. This work is mainly a description of a usual bazaar in Song Dynasty, which was thousands of years from today. Nowadays, we can imagine the prosperity of ancient times from this drawing as it is so lifelike that we seem to have experienced previous times. Also, the arts are the immaterial aspects of a society, such as the aspiration of beauty, imagination and the peace of soul. Renaissance, a significant historic period which was abundant of art work, is in fact a movement calling for the freedom of humanism. Like many other classic works, Mona Lisa's perfect embodiment of humanism ideological trend has reflected people's pursuit of beautiful as well as the call for Industrial Revolution in the whole era. Without arts, these impulses of society might be submerged forever. It is the arts that promote people's minds and push forward the world.

However, some arts merely reveal the artists' internal feeling, which are actually irrelevant to the social thoughts and motivates. Westlife, a famous pop music group, is the typical example whose songs are usually full of feelings from individuals. Their famous song "the Rose", just describes personal interpretation of love, which has nothing to do with the society. Also, when we consider Van Gogh, his picture "the Starry Night" shows his love of life, peace and pleasure gained from the world, which is merely an expression of his personal unique passion. No hidden idea and impulse of a society lies in the picture. Admittedly, some arts are the reflections of society. Yet, they are all based on the artists' true feelings in the first place. All arts are a product of artist's authentic passion, a manifestation of the artist's impulse, and a creation of the artist's spirit.

Actually, many of the hidden ideas and impulses are not discovered by the arts, which can also be conveyed by religion, politics, and science. Every culture has the legislators who enact and enforce laws and regulations which are already accepted by the majority of people, or the religions which people are believed in to get the console and comfort. Also, the development of science and technology promotes the procedure of industrialization, which has altered people's conception in many ways, such as the growing status of women. In fact, no matter it is religion, politics, science or art, they are all forms of civilizations. Therefore, it is various forms of civilizations that advance the society and influence people's minds.

In sum, the arts are the symbol of a culture and society's characteristics, revealing the otherwise hidden ideas and impulses, but they are also the reflection of artists' inner feelings and inspirations, which don’t stand for the social thoughts and trends. On the other hand, the ideas and impulses of a society can also be expressed and explained by religions, politics and science and other forms of the achievement in human's civilizations.

思路清晰，例子也比较充足。
要说下缺点，有中翻英的痕迹在里面，chi-glish的感觉有些明显，语法问题也需要注意一下。例子需要再斟酌，要写的确切，不那么含糊，解释清楚，能够更好地支持你的论点。并且要一步一步将例子展开，将观点展开，最好不要跳跃，像工业化推动妇女地位提高这样，虽然我们能看明白，但是中间你还是省略了几个步骤，要找到直接联系去写。当然，这也是中西思维方式的差异所在。
这篇很难写，审题我就审了很久，在otherwise 和hidden上斟酌，我觉得你的论点展开是可取的，而且有一定的思想性，这是你的优点，只是要注意段落中的论述衔接，语法、用词等细节性的问题。定语从句很多，不一定都讨好。
当时在考虑这个题目的时候，我想到的是艺术一直以来的争辩，即为艺术而艺术还是为社会而艺术，艺术的目的性问题。是不是可以从艺术的审美层面和社会层面展开说，因为艺术的审美不只表现在个人情感的体现上，还表现在艺术技巧、形式的追求上。这个仅供参考。
