It is the artist ,not the critic ,who gives society something of lasting value

According to this statement, the speaker claims that it is the artist who can leave something of lasting value to society, but rather the critic .In spite of the ignorance of the speaker about the recommendation and the guidance which the critics can contribute to the society, I strongly agree with the statement. In most cases, the critic appears on the stage of society as a villain to impede the progress of art.

At the beginning of this issue ,I desire defining the lasting value as an approach through which we can reveal the tendency of society and reflect the objective reality. Works of art,such as novels films,musics paintings,etc, forming slowly but steadily during the history of human being ,are embodied most of the wisdom, aesthetics, philosophy, and science of humanity.

It should be acknowledged that all of these amazing works of art are created by artist ,not the critic. The inestimable value lies in these works of art lasts forever no matter how long these arts are buried. It will ultimately show its value until someone distinguish it from a mass of pieces. So we can conclude that the first contribution of the critic is the responsibility of revealing the true face
of artistic work to society. In another word, one of the critic’s job is to evaluate the works of art. Secondly ,a critic with sharp insight plays an active role as a guide and a docent to aviod these negative respects of arts, represent these arts which are worth appreciating, and help us understand and interpret art. Thirdly, critic is considered to be a catalyst of arts, the appraisal(comments) from veteran critics are sometimes treated as certain judgments for the young artists, from which they experienced abundant knowledge that they can utilize in a life long time.

Although critics serve as a bridge cross the common people and the artists, the kernel value of art always come from diligent artists. As we know that artists obtain the character that critics never have, such as originality and uniqueness. originality are proved to be a main reason for lasting value. There are never two valuable works of art created in the same topic and style existed in the world ,we tend to describe the second piece of art as derivate one. Such like Monalisa painted by Leonardo da Vinci, the style of her secret smile had never existed in any other painting till now. Uniqueness should be another crucial reason for the lasting value. a precious work of arts which can not be copied should embrace tremendous and permanent influence to the society, a case to this point is the Sistine Capel ceiling painted by Michelangelo in the theme of Book of Genesis, is one of the most renowned artworks of the High Renaissance. Uniqueness account for a essential character of work of arts which reveal the meaning of lasting value.

In addition ,arts has already turned out to be a path of make a profit contemporarily. Such like movies and music. Every company desire its own movies or disks draw more attention. some critics who are bribed secretly by the music producing company might extol certain movies or music to the audiences while the meaningful production are neglected and fade away as the time goes by. As a matter of fact ,we are deceived by these so called critic who are blinded by their own interest. The action is to corrade the essence of art.

In sum, critic manifests the value of arts by reveal the significance of the work of art, and the artist create the true art .The reflecting on the function of critic and the valuable originality and uniqueness from artist prove that the lasting value for society are burdened by the artist ultimately.
