TOPIC: ISSUE157 - "There is no such thing as purely objective observation. All observation is subjective; it is always guided by the observer's expectations or desires."

I partly agree with the speaker's assertion that no such thing as purely objective observation and all observation is subjective. It is common sense that different people would have different views on the same thing they observed. That is not only because they have different cognitions orginally but also they observe it from different aspects.
The objects may not be what we have observed, even if we observe it without any subjective emotion. When letting a piece of paper and a ball fall from a building in the floor at the same time, we can observe the result that the speed of the ball would quicker than that of the paper. Just of this fact, Aristotle concluded that objects of different weights fell at different speeds. Not long age, Galileo disproved the observative conclusion by doing a famous experiments on the top of Pizza Tower. Two balls with different weights fell in the floor at the same. People become confused and have no idea whose conclusion is right and whose is wrong. With the technological development, scientists did continue experiement in the condition of to prove the Gelileo's theory. From this fact, only the means of descriding what we have observed to get the conclusion may be right all the time.
In somes cases, however, the distinct results of the same observation can be amount to the subjective factors. The process of appreciating a piece of art can illustrate this point substantiately. When people observe the painting,Starry Night, created by Vincent Van Gogh, different people would have different ideas. The layerpersons can only see a myriad of  huge stars in the dark sky, while the fans of Van Gogh can read his deep thinking and desperate feeling from this work. These differences come from the distinct cognition of a certain thing, which can be improved by learning. The fans of Van Gogh have studied and read many informations on the whole life of Van Gogh and add their own emotion to understand his life in this process. They would feel that Van Gogh's whole life would be a disaster. When appreciating his works, they would add their emotion to consider that Van Gogh must lonely at that time. The same condition would be found when we read the literature. We always tried to read what's auther is thinking by our subjective emotion.
To sum up, under some circumstance, observation, even without any subjective factor, is unbelievable. The true may not be what we have observed. While when it comes to art appreciation, subjective emotion would autobly works to influence our observations. That is why people would have different ideas on the same artistic work.
