[i习作temp] issue50 拙作,刚完成,有提纲,求拍... [复制链接]

TOPIC: ISSUE50 - "In order to improve the quality of instruction at the college and university level, all faculty should be required to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach."

提纲:
1.不完全同意这个观点,将观点分为理论的和实践的两个方面来讨论(很俗的套路,可我想不出新的来...)
2.讨论在实践为主导的学科中,教员应该出外工作积累经验,给学生联系实际授课
3.讨论以理论为主导的学科中,研究和对本学科的深入理解比工作经验更加重要
4.讨论在理论和实践这两个方面是辩证统一,相辅相成的。
5.总结

In this rapidly developing society, more and more students requrie abundent knowledge about their major and the technique which suppose to be utilized in the future working area. According to this trend, It is undenible that some faculties in working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the course they teach  may help to enrich the extent of their course and the apppetite of knowledge from the students, however, it may be proved to be slapdash to claim that all faculty are embraced in the assertion of this statement.

Spending time working outside the academic world is a case-in-case basis, in another word, not all faculty are fitted to work outside academia.Let us take a look at the ultimate purposes of education in university : the first one is to instill appication knowledge and technique to students for the aim of improving the working capability. Working experience and skill are more curcial in these fields faced upon application such as architechture, electronic engneer, and computer program. Nevertheless, the second one aims at the target of developing the creativity and the research ability in order to cultivate the generous for some other areas such like history, phlosophy, humanity and some therotical science. There are no suitable position for faculty from these fields to work outside acdamia, and the education in these disciplines is to raise the capability to conceal the uncharted realm rather than the approcah to earn money.

These faculty who intend to train students as skillful and competent engineers or architects are demanded to maintian more experience with pratical technology  from outside academia for the purpose of deepening the understanding of the surrounding of this discipilne or aquaint themselves with problems which they will never face in the adcademic areas, students will benefit from these measures in the way such as discussing these problems they suppose to meet in the future occupation with faculty in the college. The experience from outside academia in profession relevant to the courses will also extend their scrop of the actual requirement from society. In this modern market dominated by demanding from consumers, to satisfy the  requriments is proved to be as decisive as the advanced technology. Such like the conception of humanized design concerns every respect to cater the satisfaction of customers. based on the understanding above, Students will become more competitive in the job market while the faculty instruct them with pragmatic information related to needs or trends from the society.

However, in other therotical disciplines, like these phlosophy and humanity mentioned above, the experience of faculty in working outside academia will be less helpful to improve the quality of instruction. The destination of education in these fields is to discover the unknown terrior. Facts proved that there are few position for these faculty in the society. Relatively, working in the lab, discussing with their colleague, or search information in the library should be more useful than working outside acadmia which may force the faculty pay more attention to cultivate students. Consider, the working experience of a historian who study the migration of antient Jewish won't help deepn his understanding of this field, on the contry, the work of the professor will definitely distract his/her attention which may lead to a conterproductive result that the students ultimately gain little from this professor during the term.

Admittedly, It seems that the difference between pagmatic disciplines and theoretical disciplines is obvious in faceing the attitute of working experience, however, the two respects of education are internal dialectical, These theoratical discipilnes cultivate the researchers to provide the basic theories and elements for those students who are trained for application in pragmatic disciplines. In other word, they are complementary to each other. The perfect collaboration of these two areas impels the progress of our society.

To conclude, whether faculty spend time working outside acdemia in profession related to the courses they teach depend on the specific fields and the particular purpose of the education. Experience from outside academia will be benificial for faculty whose target is to enhance the skills of dealing with practical problems. However, these experience will be less useful for those who desire to bring up telent men in theoretical fields. in addition, the combination of pratice and theory can lead to the result of getting twice the result with half the effort.
