以下这几道题是做完填空那本书死活想不明白的  现陈列如下 共九道   望高手解答

Mine: overcame....altruism
这道题说起来惭愧  记得当时上课老罗是用了半个小时（期间扯了一个淡:-D)来讲这个题的  一年之后 我把逻辑关系忘了...
我觉得第一空overcame和conquered是一个意思  另外第二空指将用途转到益处上了  那么转到利他（altruism）上为毛不可以呢？？？

Mine: narratives....ambivalent
这个的问题是我觉得冒号后面的household and village和open road是矛盾的啊   因此就选了ambivalent  包括圣元在解释中都说这是“一种特殊的双重性格”难道这算不上矛盾吗？

Answer:  presumptuous....venturing
Mine:   censorious......undercutting
这题我的逻辑是不准appear censorious导致了后面的 refrained from undercutting
即不批判导致不攻击   这样的逻辑有错吗？

Ans: biased....predicted
Mine: impartial....mentioned
我是这么想的:公正的媒体做了可能无罪的推断  结果是有罪的  人们对于媒体的公正性失效感到震惊  这么理解可以吗？

这个忘了为什么选cellular了  谁能讲下为什么不对？

Mine:  restrained.....confirm
这个问题主要集中在第二空  为什么在遭受打击后 评估（confirm）员工还有多少士气不可以呢？

这个推理应该是过于拘谨导致不能做自己   但是过于高兴导致不能自已或不能做自己为啥不行呢？

这个题句子结构我都没搞明白  读了很多遍还是很乱

另外那个instead the....of....这个用法是什么意思？

1、opium never conquered him. not opium never overcame him. 弄清楚overcome 的用法。

2、个人认为没有对立关系

3、venture的一个解释是冒险做某事。句中则是冒险说出对senior的计划的criticism. 如果用undercut的话就变成了削弱对senior 的plan 的criticism，错误。

4、媒体作出推断，推断是错误的，这和媒体的公正性有什么关系？

5、whether hormones that __fail___in the laboratory can effect __cellular__organisms, and in predictable ways.  题中已经说明了“Manipulating laboratory tissue cultures with hormones is one thing”，即在实验室中hormone的使用已经成功了，fail怎么会对呢？

6、confirm是证实的意思。

7、propriety：1. 正当,妥当;合适,适当,适宜2. 得体的举止；有分寸的行为3. 行为规范；礼节；规矩
解题思路：was challenged by a contrary notion，推出空格中应填的词与freedom相反。则enclosure。

9、这道题我也觉得有问题，但是我忘记我选的是什么了。我的理解 national style和idiomatic Russian musical elements 可以视为同类，the  traditional musical vocabulary of western European Romanticism 是另一种东西。而答案的理解是an emerging national style和idiomatic Russian musical elements 是对立的，idiomatic Russian musical elements 和 the  traditional musical vocabulary of western European Romanticism 是同类的

最后再提个建议，楼主你太纠结于细枝末节了。少想“为什么我的不对”，多想“为什么答案是对的”。
明明有更好选项，为什么要去想“自己的逻辑哪里错了”这种问题呢。
另外，先背单词。

可能你说的纠结就是老法的钻牛角尖吧  我从小学起就开始钻牛角尖 （包括曾经质疑直线不是无限延伸的）   好多人说我有时思维很傻X  不过我觉得既然学习  就一定要把问题搞到完全清楚（时间许可情况下）
对于你的回复：我有几点质疑：
1。你说的overcome 和conquer的区别我还真么明白  我查了下字典   都是战胜 客服的意思  而且两个还是同义词
用法有啥不同  请赐教
3。  既然强调单词的用法   那么undercutting也是有攻击破坏的意思的：6 : to undermine or destroy the force, value, or effectiveness of   因此还是那个逻辑  我觉得不准批判导致不准攻击没有什么不同的地方啊
4  如果空格里填公正  那么就是媒体的公正，无偏的判断被证明为错误的   因此人们感到很震惊  这又不对的地方吗？
即  公正的媒体说无罪————最后判决有罪——之前的公正被推翻——人们很震惊
6。  confirm 证实的话也应该对啊 to give new assurance of the validity   因此在工厂备受蹂躏的情况请心理师来
to give new assurance of the validity about 工人的士气难道不可以吗
8。  这个我还是没明白高兴地不能自已为什么不行

1、我查了下字典，你说的没错，overcome与conquer是同义。这里是我错了，因为一直只将overcome用作“战胜困难等”，倾向于强调胜利。
那么我们来看一下后面那个从句“when he published the story of its influence in the London Magazine.”即：当他在London Magazine上出版其关于鸦片影响的书后。
他出版了书后会怎么样呢？直接推出的当然是获利 gain了。你要说利他主义的话，就要先假设这本书的作用是“利他”的。
在GRE考试中，直接明显的答案>要绕个弯子的答案。

3、这题你的理解错了，如果填入undercut，那么就变成了“the junior members of the research group refrained from undercutting any criticism of the senior members' plan for dividing up responsibility for the entire project.” 注意：这里undercut的是criticism，即这种批评被undercut了，这种批评是什么呢？是junior members作出来的，是对senior members的计划的批评，那么这句话就变成了junior members 压下了（refrained from）这种对批评的undercut，undercut被压下了，因此批评更激烈了，与句首的“Not wishing to appear consorious”相违背了。
我想你在理解这个句子的时候可能忽略了refrain from 这个重要的短语。

4、这个，媒体不是司法部门，其报道是推测，没有主导司法公正的能力，与公正无关，人们顶多对于媒体的判断错误而惊讶一下。

6、industries备受蹂躏，直接推出的应该是工人的士气下降了。“to give new assurance of the validity about 工人的士气”，你的意思是要去证实工人的士气还在，即又假设了工人的士气还在。又绕了个弯子。记住，用更直接的方式去理解，既然备受蹂躏，那士气就下降，不要去想，备受蹂躏后士气还在。

8、还是那句话，选更直接的。高兴能推出很多种表现，你说的没错，其中一种是无法自己，但是更多的却不是。而inhibited in her presence, 很直接地推出 he could not really be himself.

我觉得你说的这句话特别赞———— quote如下 “在GRE考试中，直接明显的答案>要绕个弯子的答案。”（我的问题大部分都是逻辑推理多推了一步....)
突然想起来其实这是老罗讲填空时一直强调的一句话   其实除了填空  类反也绝对是这个道理！
