Celebriting the 75th annversity this year aa with the 12 guiding principles to sobriety as a hallmark institution for addicts but doesn't it work? while 2006 study published in alcoholism clinical and experimental research followed 349 drinkers over five years,and they found a sucess rate correlated with the frequency and link of aa attendence. of those who dropped out of aa after the first year, only 46% were still sober at year five,of those who went 60 meetings per year for all five years 73% continued to abstain and it was 79% of those who attended 200 meetings annually, that gone into the mission by year five.maybe most surprising, that was 61% of those who attended 200 meetings in the first year but then dropped down to 3 meetings in year five, was still able to stay dry. but such results show a correlation. and it's important to remember that results like most things in life are very much based on individual circumstances and personalities. nonetheless most long-term studies conclude that one sticks with aa for the long hall, at least five year then chances for permanent abstainence steadily increase.:)
