most of us think that we are fairly good at  spotting at someone who has a few too many , slurs speech, red eye ,stumbling ,you know the tell-tell signs are pretty obvious, right? well ,a recent review paper published in the journal of behavior science and law concludes that we are pretty awful at detecting at the level of intoxication in others. one study found that police officers covering(听成carrying) check points correctly identify only  20% of drivers with blood alcohol concentrations or BACs over 0.10 percent. this is a level we typically leaves one's reaction time, motor control significantly impaired. just for your own perspective, the US legal limit is 0.08percent.and what is the reviewed paper found is that the telltale sign provides surprisingly crude measurement, for instance, slurs speech does separate those above the BAC of 0.8 persent. you cant accurately predict anything lower than 0.8 point. and they found the same thing with stumbling, Great if the person is at a BAC of 0.15 or is pretty much plastered ,not so great if they poin at 1.0 .results are similarly inaccurate in the famous figure to noses test and even when a person stands on one leg. at low BAC level, these tests lose accuracy.
curiously, however, the gays in this test, which looks for jerky eye movements as one follows movements smoothly moving objects is the best measurement of BAC at low levels.  but over all, it seems no behavior and or physical clue is consistently related to BAC. and there were a lot variations among individuals. For instance, alcoholics can appear totally straight sober at a BAC is fatal to many drinkers yet can also appear more drunk than a social drinker in a low BAC. the author of the review suggest the test need to be subject to more peer-reviewed  studies and established norms be set.otherwise, we are all in danger of mistaking a teetotaler or a vice versa.

It was that conversation that marked the first meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Celebrating its 75th Anniversary this year A.A.—with its 12 guiding principles to sobriety—is a hallmark institution for addicts. But does it work?

Well a 2006 study published in Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research followed 349 drinkers over five years. And they found that success rates correlated with the frequency and length of A.A. attendance.

Of those who dropped out of A.A. after the first year, only 43% were still sober at year five. Of those who went to 60 meetings per year for all five years 73% continued to abstain. Andit was 79% of those who attended 200 meetings annually had gone into remission by year five. Maybe most surprising,though is that 61% of those who attended 200 meetings in their first year but then dropped down to six meetings in year five, were still able to stay dry.

But such results show a correlation, and it’s important to remember that results, like most things in life, are based on individual circumstances and personalities.

Nonetheless most long-term studies conclude that if one sticks with A.A. for the long haul, at least five years, then chances for permanent abstinence steadily increases.

我是新手，想问问大家是怎么听写SSS的？ 是听完60秒， 写一遍，再听一遍，再修改，如此反复3遍。还是听一句，写一句，然后再听一遍该句，再修改，如此反复三遍后再听第二句，直至听写完60S。
望前辈们指点！！:)
