Do the luxuries and convenience of modernlife undermine our independence as an individual? The speaker believes so, butI tend to agree the statement.
Strongand independent are more than physical, but mental. The luxuries and convenienceare not only diminishing people’s activities but also affecting humans’thought.

The invention of automobile has enhancedthe speed and area of life significantly. The time people spent in the in theway has abated. The convenience help the markets expand and people can travelfar away from where they lived. It can not be denied that it is necessary. Humanare living in a better life than that ever with the help of the automobile. Butthe problem is that, in what case, people are supposed to take automobiles. Inthe situation that the destination is very far away from the start point,taking advantage of it is undoubted a good idea. But lots of people would liketo use car even a short journey just because the comfort and the laziness oftheir own. The convenience castrates the willing to be active of humans. Thedependent mentality has been developing alone with the invention. And otherthan that, people exercise less and less while taking the automobiles. Ifpeople can not get rid of it, the invention did reduce the dependence of beingindividuals.

Nowadays, people are living in a materialworld. Luxuries and convenience not only is entertaining people but also becomecriteria to evaluate the success. People will evaluate someone by how muchluxuries and how many privilege he had. Gradually, people are developing anideology which is morbid to only chasing immediately interests. Morality,emotional bonds are placed at second level. Less and less people can rememberwhat the happiness is. In their eyes, the more luxuries and convenience theyhad, the happier they are. Isn’t it pathetic to rely on these accessories ofhumans to define happiness? Besides physical field, mental impact is the most dreadful.




The convenience of modern society expandsthe complexity of the world. People have no way to head back to a simple life. Chasingdreams no matter a pittance of profit or a broad long-ranged desire comes withgreat loads. People lost their nature and mind in pursuing the dreams. Humansare fulfilling tasks everyday. People are doing what they have to while thethings they want to. The life makes us lose the ability to think what we liketo be by telling us the answer of what we ought to be like. Years after, eventhough a person who is thought to be successful reedit his resume, looking atwhat he had done, he may be confused. Is that the one he wants to be? Is thelife he wants?
The difficulties ofpursuing dreams have been enhanced.

To sum up, the luxuries and convenienceindeed affect humans to be independent and strong individuals in mental morethan physical condition. Not only wear down the willing to be independent butalso those 2 things will lead us from the original thought to the opinionothers put on us. Disable us more than reducing our physical activities, andthe willing to be self realized.
