今天终于收到VISA APPROVED信，庆祝一下！
我的基本情况：EE PHD 自费
CHECK后2周收到大使馆要求导师补充材料的信，补充过一次后，我收到电话说问题回答不清楚，要求导师再补充一遍。
第一封信的大意是：由于我是自费，现在只是指定了一个课程指导导师，以后的研究方向需要论文导师和我一起指定。但是现在论文导师未定，因此研究方向未定，
所以后续4个问题都无法决定。
重新补充材料的原因我猜测：这4个问题没有明确的回答是或否，虽然从信的内容可以简单的推理出这4个问题都不涉及，但是老美的思维太简单了，不懂的推理。
后来我自己写了一封答案，发给导师后，导师简单修改一下19日发给大使馆，今天终于收到回信！

导师的回信如下，希望对大家有所帮助。
1) Explain goals of applicants research and any practical applications:

You are admitted as a Ph.D candidate with self-funding. Your research directions have not
been determined. You need to choose your thesis advisor and decide your research goals
jointly with your thesis advisor. As your academic advisor and according to your recent
work experience, I suggest your research topic be on wireless communication.

2) State sources and amount of any U.S. government money/or (funding from
U.S. corporations assisting the U.S. government) to be used to support that research.

Your research directions will be determined jointly by yourself and your future thesis super-
visor. Although I am assigned as your academic advisor, I do not supervise your research. I
only advise you on course selections and other general academic matters. [Notice that every
incoming student will have an academic advisor. The students must ˉnd their thesis advisor
on their own.] As such, I can not be sure what research topics you will be pursuing. You
will need to decide on that jointly with your future thesis advisor.

Because you are not admitted as part of a research project, no U.S. government money/or
(funding from U.S. corporations assisting the U.S. government) is involved at present.（一定要明确不涉及）

3) Describes any export-controlled technology and/or information will be shared
with the applicant. If the applicant will participate in or have access to U.S.
government project.

Your research topic is not decided. At present you are not involved in any U.S. government
project or export-controlled technology.

4) Sponsor should state explicitly whether such research is open to non-U.S.
citizens.

Since you are coming as a self-funded Ph.D student, there is no U.S. government sponsor
for your research. You are admitted as a Ph.D candidate with self-funding. Your research
directions have not been determined. So we cannot be sure what research directions you will
be pursuing, therefore unable to explain the goals or applications of your research.
