TOPIC: ISSUE136 - "The absence of choice is a circumstance that is very, very rare."

During the life of a person, absence of choice is a circumstance that is very, very rare. Only birth, native parents and some accidents that we cannot choose. The process of life is the process of acceptation and rejection. Our birth can not determine our future life. The factors determine our fates are our postnatal choice.

Why people in the world look so different? Because what they choice are different. Li Kaifu, the president of China district of Google, once studying political science at Columbia University. After two years learning in this major, he found he had no interest in this. At this time, he had two choices: one to continually study political science which was the best major in Columbia University; two, to change to computer science major which was not so famous in this university but he loved it very much. After struggled, he chose the latter. He turned to computer science major which he was very interested in. Now his splendid career has proved that his decision was right. In contrast, although some students choose the computer science major, they put all their energy to games and Internet and such these virtual worlds. Until the time they graduate, they realize that have learned nothing. The opportunity is equal for everyone; Kai-fu Lee chose computer science while the other chose computer games. Kai-fu Lee made the right choice, so he succeeded, but the other one made a wrong choice, so he failed. Perhaps the most difference between successful men and failures is that the successful men know how to choose correctly but the failures do not.

Sometimes, you want to make the right choice would have to learn to give up. In tropical forest in India, people use a strange way to catch monkeys: they use a small fixed wooden box in witch putting some nuts, which was the monkey's favorite food. And the box just have a small mouth that if a monkey put its paw into the box and catch a nut, it cannot get its paw back and it will be caught. The reason why people in this way to catch monkeys, because monkeys have a habit - refused to put hand things down. We will laugh at how stupid monkeys are; if they give up what they get, they can easy to escape. But actually, sometimes we are the same stubborn as these monkeys. For example, in the stock market, when our stocks soar, we always want to earn more, as a result, we gave up the chance of selling out, then the storks down, we lose more. Meanwhile, there also some people and companies that bold to give up: In order to prevent greater loss, IBM gave the hard drive business in 2002. This is a very courageous decision, because at that IBM had been in this industry for 46 years. The brilliant of IBM now indicate that the decision was correct.

Life is always not lack of choice; the key is when the opportunity comes, whether one can make the right decision.

楼主很注意事例的运用。不过举例显得太长，说理被挤得不够充分了~最后一段显得仓促~~~
