I strongly agree with the speaker to the extent that technologies influenced social customs and ethics. However, in the sense that technologies played the decisive role to social customs and ethics, the speaker over exaggerates the effects technologies taken. Though technologies brought about revolutionary changes to our social customs and ethics, but the latter factors determined the direction and the way of the development of technologies.
Firstly, it is obvious that great changes to social customs and ethics have taken place because of technologies. Which is more obvious is what have happened to social customs. Because of the invention and widespread of television, cable-television, and digital television, the way people acquiring and sharing information have been greatly changed. It is a social custom for gentlemen to pick up their newspaper as the first thing in the morning, but what my father do is turning on the television to watch morning news nowadays. Technologies influenced people's means of communication and traveling by offering us more convenient, simpler options. All of this makes people more and more lenient and mildness because of the sharing of information and growing in our living standard, which influenced our social ethics. Nobody will refuse to agree the saying that we have benefited greatly from technologies.
However, technologies also challenged our social customs and ethics. So many people are complaining about the changes taken place and also the trends. People are worrying about the younger generation who are exposed to effects taken by technologies. I have a younger cousin who was placed a lot of hopes on when he was in his teens, but all the family are beset with his lost in online games. It seems that technologies are dangerous sometimes. Also people's moral standards have been degraded by technologies too. There are news about adolescent pregnancies and immaturity crimes under the influence of technologies. There are teenagers wrongly following what happened in the movies and described on the internet.
For all the above, technologies are not actually playing the decisive roles. Firstly, for the positive side, the basic reason under technologies is people's aspiration and efforts to change our daily live and also our deep thinking about our customs and ethics. Technologies are just facilities taken by people to achieve our dreams. Secondly, to the negative side, all the problems are stem from our human nature, technologies just helped to promote their show, so that we can face up to and solve them. We should not give too much to expectancy and also should not be afraid of them.
Actually, the real leading role is played by our human nature. Technologies are in control of our human being, no matter how dangerous they turn out to be. We are proud to say we have done a lot to solve and prevent the possible risks of technologies, and with our determination, we will do better in the future. However, what I have to admit is that our something comes from our human nature is more dangerous.
In summary, technologies influenced our social customs and ethics greatly, but we should keep a clear mind that the fundamental role is played by our human being and more specially speaking-our human natures but the technologies.
