While it is true that the capacity for reasoning and logical thinking is very important to the development of students, and if also taught to explore their own emotions, students would benefit more. The exploring of their own emotions can help them benefit a lot from inside of themselves, together with the capacity for reasoning and logical thinking, they will benefit more.
Firstly, capacity for reasoning and logical thinking is crucial to the development of students. No matter what fields they will earn their lives, this kind of capacity guarantee their survival because it helps people understand and find a way to get along with the things and people as their environment. Capacity of reasoning is crucial for people to make it clear that how things happen an the direction to go on, so that people can grasp opportunities and gain courage to realize their own aims. When dealing all kinds of affairs, daily, academics or political, capacity of reasoning and logical makes people conscientious and careful and prevents them from lost in complex and confusing situations.
Secondly, students whose own emotions are not explored, there will always be a disappointing poverty of creativity in their own study or future work. That's because even with great capacity for reasoning and logical thinking, people have to admit that they have nothing completely from their own ideas and impulse of motion.
However, people benefit a lot from their own emotions and with out of that they will be incapable to some extent. That's obvious to students of art because almost all great works are result from artists' exploring of their own emotions. People draw pictures to reflect their feeling and inspiration and artists take it as a way of emotional catharsis. That is to say, an education that taught students to explore their own emotions is very crucial to them for their future artistic creation.
The cultivation of a whole human being depends on a balance development of both of them. Since the capacity for reasoning and logical thinking provides people with ability of rational consideration and exploring of their own emotions makes people have spontaneity and real sensuousness. While rational thinking protect people from emotional problems and exploring of their own emotions gives people generous sentiments and passion which keep people from rigidity and lacking of vitality. They together make a whole human being.
Lacing of any of the two abilities, people will be prone to problems. As a graduate student of school of mathematics, I have both friends who are too rational or too emotional, and the first kind of people turns out to be clumsy to get along with others and their own real feeling and more vulnerable and get into trouble easily though they are excellent in their study, and the second kind of people live a happy lives and enjoy harmonic interpersonal relationship, but always have difficulties in studying. Only students whose earlier education provides more opportunities to both the development of their capacity for reasoning and logical thinking and exploring of their own emotion perform more excellent and it is believed that they will benefit more from that in the future.
Only with the educational system that emphasize both the development of capacity of reasoning and logical thinking and the exploring of emotions students can benefit more. That’s right what the education should do to help student to be a whole human and prevent them from suffering some kinds of problem.
