题目：A11 Money spent on research is almost always a good investment, even when the results of that research are controversial.
花在研究上的资金基本上都是不错的投资，即使研究的结果是有争议的

I strongly agree with the assertion that money spent on research is almost a good investment, even when the results of the research are controversial. Primarily because only through mistakes can there be discovery or progress. Moreover, although the result of the research are controversial now, yet we cannot ensure that the results might be proved correctly in some day.

The chief reason why I generally agree with the assertion is that money spend on the research is almost a good investment. Human beings’ progress is relying on a large number of research including scientific research, humanity research, societal research and so on. For example, it is almost every industry revolution that is based on the new invention of that time or new development of that time. Like in the first industry revolution, Watt James invented water vapor machine, which impelled the speed of the first industry revolution. At the same time, England also became the most powerful country in the world at that age.

The second reason why I fundamental agree with the assertion is that even though the conclusions of the research are controversial, the research has its meaningful and effects. To some extent, the controversial results might be more correct than the existing concepts or answers. A typical illustration of this idea is that Copernicus in the 15the century came up with a system that the Sun and not the earth was the heart of the solar system, however, the system is against to the concept that time, a part of scholastic science, the church of Rome. At that time, the earth was the center, not the sun. Latter, scientists have proved that Copernicus’s idea was correct. In short, we cannot require the way of researching should be forthright and straight line. Sometimes, the failing results may lead us to some thinking resort, which you never could reach forever. We should tolerate them because they are motivating the quickening pace of the society.

On the other hand, we should also pursuit a balance between the controversial results and the investment. After all, investing money on the research is taxpayers’ money. Anyone does not like to waste the taxpayers’ money. If we really know the result of some research has nothing to do with our human beings’ survival and future generations’ development, in addition, it is not our duty or necessity, in other words, it is useless to us, perhaps invest money on them is not such significant. However, the proportion is very little.

In sum, the assertion is fundamental correct. As long as we cannot exclude benefits and advantages from the research, and the results of the research is worth being discussion money should spend on the research to help the research’s workers do better inventions and investigations for our human being and society.
