According to the statement, the speaker's claim is that the history which have relationship with our daily life has value. I think that it is maybe right in some degree, but some history which far from our life really have some important effect on us. The reasons are stated as follows.

Admittedly, with the rapid changing of the science in modern time, most history has lose its value to us, there is nothing to worry about even we never heard some of them, we could live our normal life as before. For example, many of us don't know about the detail of life about the ancient people or some non-meaning matters in old time. But that doesn’t have any sense on our way of life. So we should stop studying the history like that.

However, some meaningful history really have some effect on individual life. As an average man in the whole society, any one of us struggle for living everyday, and we should take a look at the experience of the people of former times, we can learn something from them which is helpful for our life. For example, there is a man named Gou Jian in China in at least 2000 years ago, who was the king of the state of Yue. Defeated by Fu Chai and became a captive in the kingdom of Wu, but he never lose heart as a loser suffering from the tribulation. Sleeping on brushwood and tasting gall more than 20 years, finally, he revenged successfully and rebuild his country. So we could learn the spirit of perseverance of him when we want to give up, the history like this really play an important role in our spirit world.

So, not only the individual could learn something useful in the history which seems far away from our daily life, but also the countries. One country could study the history which about the foregoing dynasty. Just like studying the reason why the dynasty could come to the end so the country could learn a lesson from that and avoid happening that situation. The government also could learn the way to deal with emergency from the precedent in the history. For example, when the economic crisis happened in USA in 1920s, Roosevelt, the president of the US, took a series of policies about the crisis which people called New Deal, It is the reform, recovery, and relief saved the economic of USA. So when the same kind crisis come again, the government could learn the experience from the case. The history like this also should be value to the society.
