怎么能不买学校恶心的昂贵保险？

2800一年，之前有个校外的保险，叫psi，可以取代学校的。但发信问了小米。说：

They do not cover suicide attempts which is why they are currently on hold.


学校来信说了5点校外保险要满足的最低要求：
Important: Alternative coverage must meet the following minimum standards:

• Alternate plans must be provided by a company licensed to do business in the United States, with a U.S. claims payment office and a U. S. Phone number

• Alternate plans do not exclude coverage for pre-existing conditions (or have been in effect long enough that any waiting period has passed)

• Alternate plans must provide coverage for both in-patient and out-patient medical care in the Philadelphia area, including specialist office visits and diagnostic testing. Emergency or Urgent only care is not sufficient

• Alternate plans must provide coverage for both in-patient and out-patient mental health care in the Philadelphia area . Emergency or Urgent only care is not sufficient

• Alternate plans must offer a lifetime maximum benefit of at least $500,000 in coverage

我把这些都发给了psi的经理，他的回复：


Thank you for sharing this with me. I suggest you ask Jessica and others at the SHS Insurance Office the following questions:

1) What are the exact insurance requirements of UPenn?

2) If they provide you the same 5 requirements, then why are holds being placed on PSI Student Plan III when it clearly meets the requirements as stated?

3) If there are additional requirements, then why are you not being informed of them?

4) What does hold mean? Does that mean coverage will be denied later? Will you not be able to register for classes?

You as a student have the right to know the school's requirements, and it is unfair to you if the school begins adding additional requirements without publishing them or informing international students and scholars. You should be afforded the option of alternative health insurance plans as opposed to purchasing the much more expensive PSIP.

Also, please be aware that the school does have a waiver deadline of August 31st, so if they are adding extra requirements they should provide ample time for you to do further research on possible alternatives.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns on any of this, and I look forward to your response.
