题目:ISSUE136 - "The absence of choice is a circumstance that is very, very rare."
In recent years, a widely accepted viewpoint claims that only in few circumstances there is no other choice provided for us. In taking various factors into consideration, to large extent I would rather to agree with this point of view and reckon that what shall we think about more is how to make the most appropriate choice more frequently.
First of all, I have to concede that there do exist some situations that we have only one way to go, or even we can not decide our behaviors, which always make us feel helpless. Most of us would not be so unfamiliar with the death of our relatives. When my best friend- Tim's grandpa was diagnosed to get serious lung cancer, Tim stayed in his grandpa's sickroom 24 hours everyday for half a month, but his filial piety can not rescue the old man's life: Tim's grandpa passed away at the 17th day after he entered the hospital. The power of human beings is still tiny compared with the order of nature.
Nevertheless, in most occasions, the puzzle we face is which choice is more rational. When we graduate from the high school, which university is more suitable for us is always a tough problem. As they have enjoyed lives in college for four years, many of the students have to consider that whether a master degree is necessary for them. In addition, the majority of young people are going to answer the question that if their present boyfriend or girlfriend is the Mr. or Mrs. Right for them. The life of a contemporary individual would be changed thoroughly if he chooses another way when he meets either of the above situations.
At last, it is unworthy and waste of time to think about those unusual incidents that we have nothing to do but obey the destiny and overlook the often conditions which can be mastered by our volitions. Though Tim felt despairing when he learned the message of his grandpa's passing away, he devoted himself in heavy studies only three days later instead of being in wine as a great number of people would do when they lost a close member in their family, for Tim is clear that his grandpa prefer to see his grandson serving as a successful scientist rather than a drunkard even in the heaven. Emotion plays a significant role in why human beings are distinct from other creatures, but many people are actually controlled by their emotions instead of being their passion's host which may result in disasters.
To sum up, rather than complaining for the seldom happened cases as the absence of choice, most of the problems would have diversified results when we choose various attitudes to tackle with them. It is unreasonable to put too much emphasis on those things that can not judged by ourselves.
