Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? If you do not make sure other people (especially influential people or your employers) know about your strengths and accomplishments, you will never get successful in life
Whether others clearly know one's achievements and strengths or not may not be prerequisite for one to reach his or her success. While, most of people are eager to spread their accomplishments all over the world, because people would like to win others' applaud and appreciation. In fact , such mundane behavior have nothing to do with true success.
Those who believe others' acknowledgement is necessary to gain success may put fame and wealth on the first place. In those people's view, success equals to the upgradation of reputation, social status and money. Without the acknowledgement from others, especially those critical people, it is hard to obtain those wonderful results which can represent one's success. Moreover, social competition becomes increasingly pierce, people have to struggle to show their advantages to others so as to stand out and gain more opportunities.
It seems that making sure others acquaint one's merits and accomplishments is an effective way to get material success . However, real success need not any outside recognization to justify it. Actually, success is some mental condition that one is satisfying with his or her accomplishments. If people can make progress to exceed themselves in yesterday, even if no one knows, their success still exist. Whether people can realize their goals primarily depends on their own endeavor. For example, Van Gogh never strived to make sure other people know his works, although his contemporaries did not speak highly of him, those wonderful masterpieces proved his success. Sometimes, others' acknowledgement may inhibit one's success. Take William Harvey for example, when he found the circulation of blood around the body, the influential people did not support him, but repress him to continue his research. Thus, under some circumstances, one's success would not be impeded without other's knowledgement.
In addition , fame and wealth are only the subsequent accompaniment of success. Only after one has already achieved some feat can they have the chance to gain others' approval. So others' acquaitance just determines one's popularity , not the true value of his or her accomplishments.
All in all, success is not the outcome of propogation. Indeed, whether people can reach success is totally determined by themselves. If they regard reputation and social status as the indication of success, less acknowledgement from others would be kind of failure. However, real successful people do not assess success in such way, they consider success as an individual breakthrough and have no relation to general popularity.
