People should read newspaper to truly understand any world event, television do not contain enough information.



In my point of view, watching TV to understand world events is as important as, if not more important than reading newspaper. Not only can watching television make the event available in the first time when it happens, but also make us access to more details which might help our comprehension. So it is sagacious to chose watching TV when people want to understand the world event better. There are several conspicuous aspects as follows.

One of the primary causes is that we could attain the news as far as possible through a live television show. When it comes to the newspaper, we have to get to know the event in the next day's newspaper, no matter how emergent and important the event is. For example, Chinese football fans could watch the 2010 Sourth Africa World Cup through the global satellite transmition programe in the firt time on their own sofa, which might lead to more close relationship all over the world which is due to the same emotional rock in the same time.

Another reason I prefer watching TV to know the world to reading newspaper is that television dose contain more imformation than newspaper in the contrast of what mentioned in the statement. It is the television, rather than the newspaper, makes us access to more details and offers events more completely through all kinds of sence, like the voice, the word, and the most import, the picture. That means to only under special circumstance, when we watch TV, can we really know how the process of the event in the world happenes. Also, seldom can some form of information spread through reading newspaper, rather than watching television, like the music.

Admittedly, reading a newspaper to know more about the world has its own advantages.The most important advantage is that it is easy for people to carry with. People could read newspaper in anywhere anytime, like during eating breakfast, on the bus to work place, and even in the toilet, which is really convinient for people to attain information about what happened in all over the world. What's more, newspaper is easier to preserve. People could also keep the newspaper and search the important information if it is necessary.

In conclude, compared with knowing the world by reading newspaper, watching television has more advantage than disadvantage. Consequently, if I have to chose one option to attain and understand the world events, I prefer to watch television to get several visions of information to know the event better.

9.7 integrated writing

Depending on what has been mentioned in the lecture, a company, which has made the comparison between the efficiency of projects belonging to a team or an individual, find it on the opposite of the reading material that a team composed with a group of people might not accomplish a project better than individuals. There are several conspicuous aspects in the following.

The first reason that individuals might achieve more in a project than a team offered in the lecture is supported by an example about the condition after six months since a team being authorized to plan a whole project. On the opposite direction  of the standing point in the reading essay, the company find all members of the team are free and have no sense of responsibility to contribute any of the project. Only under special circumstance, when people are responsible for the whole project by themselves instead of work for a team, can they individuals, rather than the whole team, get the profit or benefit of the achievement of the outcomes.

Another reason can been seen in the lecture is that the leader or influence of the team have the direct right to support or against suggestions raised in the team. Instead of further discussion, the influence will directly deny the proposal raised some of the members if he/she do not like the idea. In the contrast, when he/she has satisfying idea, ignoring the risky warn from some members of the team, all of the members will be convinced. However, if the project fails, the whole group will be blamed.

Taking into account of all these factors, we have to recognize the lecture has its own cause which make us have acknowledge that it is reasonable to doubt the points made in the reading.

The best way to improve the quality of the education in a country is to increase teacher’s salary?




As the society develops, we citizens have more opportunities to get a high quality of lives. Then our country has more pursueing to improve and promote all aspects of the society and our lives. When it comes to the issue about how to improve the quality of the education, I do not agree with the speaker of the statement that only increasing teachers' salary, can we improve the education quality.

Admittedly, increasing teachers' salary might make teachers more active and have more support to their research to some extents. In that case, only under special circumstance, when some of the teachers need money for their high tech study, or when they are suffering from problems in their families, could this kind of policy be work. However, it is possible that this approach could only assure that there are many people who might be attracted by the high salary want to be a teacher, rather than increase the education quality, let alone that some of them do not regard the salary part as an important factor of the job.

Firstly, whether should the teachers be paid for more money to pursue high quality of the education depends on the current situation about the salary distribution and the average level. If teachers had received good a treatment, only undergoing a policy of increasing the salary could not achieve the goal we expected. For example, in my university, teachers' salary is as much as, if not much more than, a successful leader's of a small company.

In addition, although I acknowledge that increasing salary might have positive influence to improve the quality of the education, I do not agree with the statement about changing the condition of teachers' salary is the only way. Depending on personal experience and the information from people who I often communicate with, I do not hold the point of view that people would like to judge a job only by its salary. Many other elements, such as the environment of the work place, the relationship between colleagues, the cultural background of the school, should also be taken into account. Trying harder to understand the reason why the quality of the education is not satisfactory, we might get the point of the way to solve the problem.

In conclude, although there might be a possibility that some teachers,excepting those who like this job just because of they are interested in it, might devote themselves to the educational career partly because of the high salary, it is not the only way at least. Many other aspects should be improved to attract more teachers with high qualities to improve the quality of education finally.

Younger school children (aged five to ten) should be required to study art and music in addition to math, language, science and history.

As the society develops and the quality of our lives increase, parents and all walks of the society pay more attention to the problem of education, especially  of the younger school children (aged five to ten). When it comes to question about ranges of the subjects should the younger children study, I agree with the point of view in the statement that children should develop themselves comprehensively.

First, children definitely should learn the basis subject, such as math, language, science and history. We could attain a lot of information and knowledge from this kind of subjects, which might be the base of the further study in the future. It is very likelihood that some people will say that children have to much burden and stress to have so many kinds of subjects. However, depending on a clinical research, the younger we are, the more excited our cellular activities are. Consequently, we should catch the opportunity to learn more in our young age, so that we could make the study more effective. And personally speaking, sometimes I can really feel how colorful and exciting my life is when I'm busy with the variety of classes.

In addition, studying art and music is also beneficial to the student in several aspects. They will have more opportunity to see different things from the major subjects they have everyday, which might broaden their horizon. Maybe they will be interested in those fields and develop them further in the future. Also, compared with studying math, language, science and history, having the classes of art or music is a kind of relax. As we all know, taking a break from the busy study in the students' daily life is not only benefit to their bodies, but also to their minds.

Although some people always complain that they have a busy childhood, we will find it worth when the knowledge we got when we are younger school children is utilized, or at least influence to some extents, when we are faced with problems in our daily lives. Taking the reasons provided above, it is easy for us to draw the conclusion that younger school children should indeed study art and music coupled with math, language, science and history.

We can get the information about the disadvatage of the activity of commercial buying and selling fossils of private collectors. However,as the professor says in the listening record, although purchases of fossils have some negative influences, there are indeed more advantages than disadvantages in the aspects of scientists and general public.

The first reason is that, to the public, the purchase of fossils brings greater exposures to  the public, even in some low level exposure public place, like public schools and libraries. In this case, people will have more opportunity to see these valuable and important dinosaurs fossils. Thereby, the arguer has suffered a flaw to lend strong support to his statement by the first seeming conspicious aspect.

The second evidence that scientists will lose accesses to fossils provided in the statement to strenghten its point of view is open to doubt. Because private collectors will need scientific identification to put value in what they buy. In another word, no matter who get the fossils, the scientists or the private collectors, the cherish objects will through the hands of experts first. Consequently, scientists could get every fossils' detail and scientific data without the influence of the commercial purchase of private collectors.

Last but not least, the arguer unfairly raise an seeming evidence that private buyer might damage the important details and evidence of the valuable and important fossils because they have not received formal training to support his argument, which is unconvincing. Depending on the professor in the lecture, private collectors bring more fund which is beneficial to the scientist to discover and unearth more fossils. It is better for the development of science thant the condition that scientists only have the scientific data.
