Children are our future, and today whether they are well socialized or not determines the destiny of future society. As a matter of fact, in contemporary society, how to nurture children to meet the standard of well-socialized human beings is becoming a serious challenge to parents and educators. In different countries of the world, the way to rear children is totally different, which results in the different extent to which children are well fostered. Especially, in some developing countries, such as China, the problem about how to cultivate children is becoming more serious.

I remember once I asked my 11-year-old cousin”what is your dream?” He answered without any hesitation”I don’t want to do anything as long as I am rich.” In 2006, a survey conducted in 100 high schools nationwide in China, showed that more than 70 percent of students have no plans for their future and their only aim is to get in a good college. And more than 67 percent of students explictly show their professions preference. Among all kinds of professions, professions labeled with high pay, such as manager, rank on the top, while those professions labeled with nobility and relatively lower pay, such as fireman, teacher are at the bottom. Admittedly, nowadays it appears that some of children are not what we expect –lack of hope, deviation of life value. How can we not be concerned with the destiny of our future society if we let those chldren bring about a better society. After careful scrutiny, I reckon there must be something wrong with the process of socialization of children.

First of all, as for the family education, high expectation and lack of communication from the parents are responsible. At present, the parents’ excessive intense wish for their children to start an early hobby or prepare a life career forces their children to receive all kinds of skill training. But the consequence is counterproductive. It fallows that children’s accademic performance in school is getting worse, which turns into a vicious circle that the worse their academic performance is, the heavier the burden for them is, therefore resulting in their more weariness of studying. Due to lack of communication, the parents fails to know what their children’s interest lies in and simultaneously, the children don’t dare to show their own opinions. What’s worst, their curiosity and confidence to learn new things fade away, which makes them feel frustrated about their future.

Moreover, the money-oriented society which overstate the value of money exerts a bad impact on the formation of life value of children. Adults are talking about money all the time while the people in spotlight in a television or other medias are not people with sublime contribution to the society, like a fireman, a teacher but the people with a lot of money or fame, like some famous singers. In their impression, the normal teachers or doctors in real life are working so hard and can not get much pay and public attention. Therefore children nowadays only admire those rich and famous people other than those with commonly reagarded as noble and respectful professions, and also, they tend to rely on their parents and don’t want to painstakingly pursue their own life career.

Finally, today’s schools strive to create a competitive atmosphere to drive students to memorize dead facts in order to get a high grade, without taking
into account the necessity of encouraging students to scheme their life blueprints and cultivating their life value.

In conclusion, how we educate the chidren today determines the orientation of society. To fully socialize our children, we need to guide them to own a proper hope and value of life. Only when the existed some serious problems in our education system are resolved, children can construct a better society in the future. Therefore, in developing countries, the educators and parents need to assimilate the advanced way of socializing children.

Actually, it’s quite common that children nowadays lacks hope and has a twisted life value in China. After careful scrutiny, I reckon there are at least three reasons for this new odd phenomenon.

How to hurdle this sticky issue? It needs triple effort. Parents should lower their expectation and support their children to find their interests, while society should not over publicize the twisted value. Most importantly, school should create an operative atmosphere and put more emphasis on the porper guidance to culture of life value.
In conclusion, how we educate the chidren today determines the orientation of society. To fully socialize our children, we need to guide them to own a proper hope and value of life. Only when the existed some serious problems(Only some existed serious problems) in our education system are resolved, children can construct a better society in the future

总结：全文从对比现在与过去的孩子得出结论前者缺乏理想、正确人生观价值观入手，分别从家庭、学校两方面论述应该怎么去教育孩子。个人觉得片面。题目有两层意思：孩子的社会化决定社会的命运；我们还没有学会如何培养better society的孩子。首先你没有分析孩子社会化程度与社会命运之间的关系，是否是决定关系还是其他？并论证你的观点；如何培养社会化的孩子以让他们更好地建设社会？对于此，你只说到家庭学校应该怎么去教育孩子，没有说这样才能有利于社会发展，相反你的旨意让我感觉是为了孩子个人自身的发展而去这么教育。
