In this era of rapid social and technological change leading to increasing competition, a debate over whether competition is ultimately beneficial or detrimental to society draws people’s attention. In my view the advantages of competition based on justice are much more than the disadvantages on the whole. My view can be greatly substantiated by the following discussions.
First, competition forces the progress of human society by the means of improving efficiency. When we retrospect the development history of human society, we easily find the rule that the best races or groups always control the limited resources of nature(是指自然资源吗?the limited natural resources). And the rule was mainly carried out by competition, which ensured the resources could be fully utilized to develop society at the furthest. Such rule exists in our modern world as well and plays a more and more important role for the rapid increase population and more and more meager resources(and plays a more important role for a society whose population is rapidly increasing ,while its resources continually decreasing我可能会这样表达,只是也不知对不对) . Only through the way of competition can society have a resource optimization and develop as rapidly as possible. We can learn the importance of competition in our experience. For instance, the government plans to build a bridge and certainly wants to have the project completed in the lowest cost and highest quality. Through the competition, a company can utilize wealth efficiently will be selected. Therefore the wealth saved can be used in other ways to develop our living condition and environment. The advantage of competition plays not only in the field of business, but also in education, in management and so on, almost every aspect of our daily life.
In another sense, competition stimulates the improvement of individuals, which is also drive up the process of society ( which also drives up…). People call for pressure to drive them to self-improve because of indolence sometimes. The competition inspires people to overcome the indolence by arousing the combative instincts. When one feels that he/her (he/she) will be disgraced if he loses, he will do his utmost to improve himself and avoid lagging behind others. During the process of his effort he makes more contribute to the society. Once the environment filled with competition is generated, more and more wealth and value are created, therefore a more hopeful and flourishing society follows.
If there were no competition, what would our society be like? We would face series problems which blocked (a series of problems that will block…) the development of society. The distribution of resource was determined by certain class who hold the power instead of fair play. (Without competition, certain powerful class will constantly control the domination of resources and thus the ordinary people do not have the fair chance to emerge from the crowd. 我的写法,不见的对与好) As a result, people have no motility (motive) to do their work better for the lack of encourage (encouragement). The individual effort was replaced by the birth, and the equality became meaningless in such kind of society.
Admittedly, competition brings some disadvantage to society. Firstly, a society completely depending on competition might ignore the troops make up of the old and weak that has no ability to compete and enjoy the interest brought by competition. Thus, it can not make sure every citizen in the society share the advantage of process. Secondly, overlade competition brings too much pressure to people which debase(people, which debases… which修饰全句时应要加逗点吧…) the quality of people’s life. However, with the improvement of social system(社会制度怎么说? 应就是social system)these problems can be solved in the future.
To sum up, due to the above mentioned reasons, we may be comfortable to say that the competition is ultimately more beneficial than detrimental to society and we can except to have a better society by encourage competition. (by advocating equitable competition)
