Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
In twenty years there will be fewer cars in use than there are today.
As far as I am concerned, I believe that there will never be fewer cars in us than there are today. First, cars play an important role in our daily life. We drive to work or visit our friends usually. Without cars, it is inconvenient for people. Can you imagine days that you do not have a car? Car is a part of our daily life.
Besides, the car industry means a lot to today’s economy. Companies related to cars provide thousands of jobs. The fewer cars there will be, the fewer jobs there will be. For example, the collapse of GM would be a catastrophe, millions of workers would lose their jobs. That’s why American government invest so much money to GM to prevent its bankrupt during the crisis. So it is impossible that the number of cars will decrease in twenty years.

What’s more, there must be substitutes when there would be fewer cars. But the techniques of cars are so mature. It’s not possible for companies or government to invest much money on new tools to substitute cars. It is an obvious wise decision to improve techniques related to car. So cars will grow in future years.
Finally, there are enough fuel for cars. The potential gasoline will support cars more than twenty years. Besides, lots of scientists have concentrated on new energy development, such as solar energy. Cars have been created using solar energy. And as time goes, there will be more cars using other energy. So the car will never be fewer cars than there are today.
