I concede that, to some degree, the action and appearance could reveal people's attitudes and interests and reflect much information about the ideas and values of a society. However, the former situation is not always as same as what is claimed above and that judging the values and ideas of a society which is determined by lots of factors together merely by observing its people's appearance and action is inappropriate.

Admittedly, the way people look, dress and act sometimes reveals their attitudes and interests as people are always inclined to choose clothes according to their inner thoughts or aspiration. In Arabic, women are always veiled when they go outside so that other men would not see their faces, which reveals that their attitudes to the relationship between men and women are conservative. Or consider someone who love sports, he may be more willing to wear sports clothes than other styles and behave energetically, from which we could gain a preliminary conclusion about his interest. In my opinion, people's appearance and behavior is influenced by their attitudes and interests to some extent.

However, the situation presented above will not be the case all the time. For instance, people who work in large companies may be required to wear similar uniforms and to act according to the rules at work, which erase employers’ attitudes and hobbies and prevent them from being showed outside. As a result, we can hardly find some details to reflect their attitudes and interests.

Then consider the author's latter conclusion that we could gain much information about a society's ideas and values by observing its people's appearance and action. Undoubtedly, the appearance and behavior of people could be one of the indications of the ideas and values of a society, which identify those objects, conditions or characteristics that members of the society consider valuable. For example, in America, values are recognized to include wealth, competition, individualism and so forth, and we could feel some of them by observing people walking in high pace and dressing in formal clothes in the street.

Indeed people's appearance and action could tell much about a society's ideas and values. However, these two factors are not the only determinant to understand a society's ideas and values deeply. In other words, to acquire a society’s ideas and values only by these two is one-sided and non-objective. History might be a significant factor to understand that. Take a common case in history, war, as an example, if a society is long under the effect of a war, its people might be more aggressive and Law of the jungle may stay in its values, which we cannot obtain just by observing their behavior and appearance. Besides, other factors such as government policy, art and economy also reflect some different aspects of society's ideas and values. Only by taking into account all the factors that help shape the ideas and values could we understand them comprehensively and specifically, not just by the two factors presented in the claim.

To sum up, the way people look, dress, and act, more or less, reveals their attitudes and interests and reflects much about a society's ideas and values. However, the former situation is not always the case and if we could observe a society in more different points of view, we may gain a more objective comprehension of its ideas and values.

As a result, we can hardly find some details to reflect their attitudes and interests.

Undoubtedly, the appearance and behavior of people could be one of the indications of the ideas and values of a society, which identify those objects, conditions or characteristics that members of the society consider valuable. (小心雷同啊)For example, in America, values are recognized to include wealth, competition, individualism and so forth, and we could feel some of them by observing people walking in high pace and dressing in formal clothes in the street.
